Powertap transmission problem

Just got the Powertap SL and am installing it. Would be great if I could get that thing running today… I installed the sensor but cannot get a Power reading on the display. Neither can I see the transmission icon on the upper left corner of the display. Went to Cycleops website but the link to the Powertap troubleshooting doesn’t work. Any ideas?

thanks,

d

were you riding it when you looked at the headunit or was it on a stand?

no, I wasn’t riding. I was just holding up the rear wheel and rotated the cranks as fast as I could with my hand. No transmission icon and no Power reading were displayed.

Change out the computer batteries, change out the hub batteries if that does not work. It is probably the computer batteries though.

I just had to buy another transmission reciever cable, mine died after 6 mos of use.

I just ordered it new and got it in the mail this week. I opened the plastic cover of the hub to make sure that batteries were in there. I hope those batteries don’t need to be replaced already. Why did you have to replace the transmission receiver cable after 6months of use?

"Why did you have to replace the transmission receiver cable after 6months of use? "

It failed, maybe the salty air, not sure why. I have the mounts on two bikes, and I am putting the new mount on the road bike this weekend.

Try removing the batter in the computer and replacing it with the spare they sent.

Just a suggestion, but make sure the head unit is firmly seated back against the stops on the handlebar cradle. Sometime I don’t get mine all the way back and have the same problem. Be careful with it though, cause its plastic and you could break it. But, just look at it as you move it backward. You’ll know right away if its all the way back. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your suggestion. That was it! Tricky little yellow thing!

that is what i was going to say. enjoy!

One other thing, those wire ties that hold the computer on are difficult to find, so keep the extras in the event you need to move the computer around.
