Powertap SL versus CT. Which would you want?

If you could only have one (and I’m not sure I can even pull that off), what would you rather piss away a grand on, a powertap SL or a computrainer? Which is the better training tool?

This is not even close . . . PowerTap SL.

It depends where you live… If you have snow like I do during winter (6 months), CT can brings a lot of diversity (build course 3d, use of spin scan, coaching software, save performance, race against performance, race online, etc). On the other hand if you can bike more then 300 days outside go if Powertap.

Think again… they stopped production of the SL.

I agree–you got snow then you want CT.

I love my CT

I have both. (the powertap pro). I would say if it was one over the other, go with the PT and get a really good fluid trainer. I like the CT but I hate having to calibrate the f’ken thing every time I get on it. If I was to do it over again I would not likely get the CT. A PT, a fluid trainer, an industrial fan and a good movie is all you need.

one other thing, if you are ever going to “share” it with a wife, husband, significant other, the CT is at least a little bit easier to share.

I have a CT and if it was just me, I’d rather have the PT with a nice fluid trainer, but my wife likes to train with power too, and the CT really is a bit easier to trade bikes on. - I know you could buy an extra computer mount and just swap wheels but that is extra cash and “dirtier”

I believe they have re-started production. If not, they will eventually anyway.
