Powertap question (9)

I am interest in training with power and am leaning toward a powertap. Today I have Hed C2 Jet60s which I love. Does anyone have feedback on the best wheel to have a powertap installed with? Given my good experience with the Hed I was leaning on going that direction again. Am I better off with a non-aero wheel. I live in Texas and generally don’t have to deal with a lot of climbing in my area.

I love my Powertap 2.4 wireless.

I used to ride Bontrager Aeolus 6.5 front and back. When I decided to purchase a PT, I looked at the price for the rear Aeolus 6.5 with PT 2.4. It was almost $3000. At the same time, Competitive Cyclist was having a sale on their Zipp wheels with PT. The Zipp 808 with PT 2.4 was around $1600. That was how I made my decision and I now ride a front and rear Zipp 808.

I’m not sure if HED comes with a PT. Others on here will know. Start by looking that info up and then look for what you want at the cheapest price. The wheel type does not matter as much since you’ll get the same data no matter what. I believe the wheel you get is a personal choice so get what ya like (and is available).

Anybody aware of supply problems at the moment?

thanks for the info. I can get the Jet 60 with SL for about $1900. I don’t want to go bigger than 60mm as it gets pretty windy at times in the Dallas area. I’ll look into the Zipp 404s

I have a PT 2.4 upgraded to ANT+ laced into a Jet 50. I train with it, and sometimes race with it. Best purchase since I bought my bike.

Good to hear. That is exactly what I was going to get. Do you mind telling me where you got it and approximately what you paid? Best deal I have found thus far is Bicycledoctorusa.com at about $1,900.

Side question: Have you considered just purchasing a power tap and having it laced to your existing Hed 60? I just purchased a used set and have been considering this. Anyone?

I did but the issue is with the power tap on Jet 60 is the non-drive side you increase the spoke count which doesn’t work with the faring on the wheel. Therefore you are required to buy a new wheel.
