I’m renting a Power Tap and learning a lot about power (and myself in the mean time!) I like most everything about it except the head unit. I’d like to be able to read my power, heart rate and cadence at the same time, without scrolling through different screens. Does the SRM head unit allow for this? Is there a head unit (Garmin?) that is compatable with either PowerTap and/or SRM that allows for this?
Yep, the srm will show hrm, cadence and power on one screen. It will also show time and speed but only works with SRM cranks, not the powertap hub.
However I thought powertap could show this as well though. On one of the settings screens you can change speed and cadence over and get what you are after. It’s been a while since i had a powertap, but if i recall correctly you can do this. Check the manual or contact powertap direct.
You should be able to read all three at the same time on the powertap. you have to select from each line what you want it to display.
Thanks. I’ll give that a shot. I didn’t think the head unit was allowing me to…I can only see a maximum of 3 readings - the top one is power, the middle is speed, and the bottom allows me to scroll through cadence and heart rate. I’d like to be able to see power, cadence and heart rate at the same time, and it would be nice to see speed too.
You can see that… switch off speed on the middle row and replace it with HR. The manual will tell you how. So then you’ll have watts, HR, Cadence top to bottom.
Question tho… why do you need HR if you’ve got watts? Speed, cadence? What are those? 
Then new ANT+ SPORT Garmin is compatible with the new wireless SRM as is the wireless Quarq.
Wanna keep all the gear super simple… wireless PT… put it on the bike and forget about it.
