Powertap Mount Broke. Will this work?

I have the old yellow wired powertap pro.

The mount broke on my ride last week (see circle below).

I saw this on the Cycleops site, but it says it’s for the Wireless mount.

Does anyone know if it will work with the old wired powertap? I’m hoping that bracket part can pop off and I can slide the wired bracket in.

If not, any ideas aside from paying $60 for a new mounting kit?

your old one looks the same as mine and i have wireless.

It comes apart with the shoe holding the CPU coming off so one rotate it so one can mount the CPU facing forward on either the stem or the handlebars.

You could:

  1. Ask Saris
  2. Put a request in the classified section for a used harness. They can usually be had for around $25

i have the same PT, mine broke too, thinking about epoxying it back on.

I’ve got wired PT harnesses on 3 different bikes. I’ve broken a harness in the exact spot you are talking about and found that plastic-specific super glue works perfectly for holding it together. The only downside is that once you glue it, you obviously can’t switch the orientation for stem or handlebars, so make sure you glue it the way you want it!

I’ve tried all sorts of epoxy glues and the glue would always crack apart whenever I would ride on rough roads, so I would stay away from epoxy for this application. I can’t remember what brand it was, but I just went to the glue section at Lowe’s and bought a little tube of super glue that was made specifically for gluing plastic on plastic. The glue sort of “melts” the plastic together and it makes a super strong bond. I glued it about 2 years ago and it’s still going strong.

  1. I did. the first email from Customer Support said I couldn’t use the $10 wireless mount and that I’d have to buy the $60 wired kit.

That’s when I posted here, hoping someone had already tried to use the wireless mount with the wired PT.

After the ST post, I got another email from CS saying the wireless mount should work.

So…I’m going to order the $10 part and hope it works.

Thx all. It looks like the wireless mount should work.
