Powerman Zofingen questions (1)

I am considering doing the Powerman Zofingen Duathlon on Sept 4th. Haven’t done this before and was hoping someone might offer some info on the course and gear setup.

How dangerous is the bike course, which isn’t closed, especially the descents? Are there guard rails on the descents?
Expected course weather this time of year in Switzerland?
Sounds like in excess of 5 miles on trails. Is the surface pretty uneven and treacherous for someone who turns thier ankles easily?
Would a 50X34 compact crank with an 11X26 cassette allow spinning up the ascents without getting too far into the red zone? This question is for someone that can do a 25mph avg on a 40k TT, but depending on course might avg 21 to 23mph for a relatively flat 40 to 50 mile bike leg of a duathlon.

It will be a stretch to train for this adequately with the little time remaining. The second run length of 30k might be a deal breaker for me given current long runs are 12 miles.
