They agree with the more efficient pedalling but don’t know if it’s worth the effort.

Haung says it himself that the theory works only if you can show improved pedalling efficiency = more power. We haven’t seen that yet. Anyway a N=1 study and a very subjective observation at that.
Doesn’t contribute anything new to the debate.
Not a PC user, but he did rate it 4 out of 5…
That’s what I have to say about the cycling benefit. Pedal stroke smooth and can go with a high cadence efficiently. I bought it more for running though, and I think it does benefit runners more. I use the Powercranks as my long run for the week. So far so good and injury free! Thanks for sharing the article.
I stopped reading their “reviews” a long time ago. Just look at the main tech page at http://www.cyclingnews.com/tech. Out of 25 items on that page:
3 stars - 3 items
3.5 stars - 5 items
4 stars - 16 items
4.5 stars - 1 item
So, pretty much everything they “review” is pretty darn good. Shills for the industry I tell you!
Interesting that all the pros that allegedly use them either denied it or didn’t respond when contacted by Cyclingnews.
In all fairness they may be under contract to use a particular component or may not want to give away something they perceive as an advantage. Cadel Evan’s used the GCs to correct an imbalance between legs.

I don’t know if that’s the best idea, unless you are carrying them for added weight while you run for an hour and a half.
The pros don’t seem to have a problem being seen racing and training with powermeters that are not made by their sponsors…
Do you have any scientific evidence for that:-)

I heard it was an imbalance between his ears.

Frank, you shouldn’t reveal which pros are powercrankers! Sheesh. Do you want to spoil their super duper secret advantage? LOL
Power Cranks have helped me on my journey from FTP20 of 378 to 400. They don’t really smooth out my stroke, they just give my hip-flexors the muscular endurance to fully unweight the recovering foot to make the task of pushing down with my quads that much easier.
They also make the forward knee drive of my run that much easier as well.
