Hey everyone, Suffered a knee injury about 4 months ago rode off and on then finally took almost 2 months completely off from exercise. Getting back on the bike now. I have noticed huge power loss I have gone from having a 290 watt ftp to struggling to hold 250 watts for 10-15 minutes with a high heart rate is this normal in your books. I gained some weight and really didn’t do another exercises during those months but this seems pretty drastic. Any one been in this same situation I have been back on the bike for 3 weeks already. thanks!
Do you have left right measurement?
ie were you 145 watts on each before and now are you 145/100 or so?

I wish I had only lost that much. After a broken femur, 3 months on crutches with no weight bearing, then only partial weight bearing for another month.
First ride on the trainer was 10 minutes. 250 watts? Out of the question. It took a month to work up to riding for 90 minutes on the trainer, but still with crappy power. After 6 months on the bike (9 months post-injury) I would say I’m at about 85% of where I was.
Don’t sweat it, it just takes time, consistency, and patience.
yes, everyone who takes 2 months off has been through this.
