Powder supplements as carry on

Has anyone carried their race nutrition supplements in carry on luggage on a flight?
I want to bring Hammer Perpetuem with me as carry on. I cannot find anything on the TSA website that says anything about powders either allowed or not, either in carry on or checked.
Ideally I would like to bring it not in the large 42 serving container, but put in something more easily fit into a carry on. I would bring the canister label too.

Thanks

I think others have done it.

Being the weird sort of fellow I am, I want to show up way early for a flight, and carry a few baggies of pure maltodextrin in on my carryon luggage and see what they say…

I took powder supplement from NY to Antwerp without any issues. I put it into water bottles and packed it in the bike box.
Carrying it in carry-on might be a different story, though. At the very least, I would expect some discussion.

On several occasions I have packed large containers of a powder supplement in a carry on bag. In almost every instance, they hand searched my bag to get a better look at the container (but most of the time never actually opening the container). For some reason, it confuses the X-ray operator to see a huge container full of powder

So, from my experience, I’d say “go for it”, but be prepared for a few extra minutes during the security check as they unpack your bag one item at a time.

I was given a hard time for carrying a few tubes of Nuun in my carry on luggage. But after a while they finally let me through. I pack in my checked luggage or bike box when possible now to avoid the hassel.

I’ve had good luck repackaging InfinIT into the 18 ounce plastic tubs with the huge screw top lid sold with Gatorade powder. It’s more convenient than a giant container of InfinIT (or Perpetuem), and just about everyone at TSA will recognize the “Gatorade” label so it won’t raise suspicions.

Joe carries his nutrition powder in his backpack frequently. He has never been questioned. He does put it in bike bottles and marks it with the label when possible just for his identification. I can see some overzealous agent might question it, but it should be allowed as it is not liquid.

I have carried powder on in zip locks and bike bottles - one time a bottle half full of powder looked like fluid to the xray guy, so they had me pull it out of the side pocket of my backpack, but once they saw it was a powder they let me through.

Interesting article today regarding the ineffectiveness of the photo ID/boarding pass procedure:

Just flew cross-country on Continental this past weekend with a quart-sized bag full of Infinit in my carry-on bag with zero problems. Didn’t even get pulled aside for a bag search.
