November 2022, I had surgery to shave down a hypertrophic peroneal tubercle……this bony part was protruding too much and irritating my peroneal tendons. Doc Sid tendons looked great (no tears) but I did have tenosynovitis he had to clean up.
I’ve had two other surgeries on my ankles (brevis tendon repair and bone spur removal on the right and brevis tendon repair along with Brostrom on the left). Each time I was NWB for two weeks and the into a boot or stirrup brace for 4 weeks. For this most recent surgery, my postop protocol is use the boot until you can fully bear weight and then no longer use it. The area where the surgery was done, lateral foot, feels great….no more bone pain here at all. But, I’ve got terrible pain on the bottom (plantar) of my foot, in both the lateral and medial arches. I did not have this with the other surgeries. I’ve been rolling the foot on a ball, to loosen it up. This helps, to a degree, but it remains very tight and aches a lot. I cannot do a single leg calf rise, on that side, to save my life (unless I’m on the Alter G, at 50%, and even then it’s very painful. I’ve put the boot back on but it seems to make it feel even more crampy. My doc, and PT, both think it’s muscle weakness related and will eventually get better.
It’s probably a long shot but anyone else on here have peroneal tendon/tubercle surgery and have anything like this???
