Posterior tibialis shin splints

I’m having some issue in my lower leg, particularly with the muscle between the tibia and soleus. It is basically pain whenever I land on the front of my foot … 99% sure the posterior tibialis insertion has somehow pulled away from the tibia(?) and is no longer straight/rigid. Working it with my hands, there is a slight bump around the region. When I finish there is less of one, I would even say it goes away. Also, when I am working at it with my hands, its like really big bubble wrap … huge chunks of stuff, not like normally small and rough.

Anyone have tips for quick recovery? I’ve tried compression socks, tape (which somehow seems to work a bit), and am currently taking some time off running. Icing/elevating didn’t really do anything. Most effective is if I work at it directly with my hands, but it does get a bit tender so I don’t want to over work it. Are there any common trigger points for this?

You gotta strengthen your shins to balance out your calves. I deal with them. I ice and advil after a bad run and do the following exercies (mainly different toe lifts) discussed in the links

X2, I had the same problem and iced after runs and advil too. I started running barefoot/in vibrams and that helped strengthen my calves a lot but you have to start super slow. Now I don’t have them any more!

I don’t run in anything other than flats … I’ve even done long runs (2h+) in terra plana evos … funny enough this happened in an easier period, with less volume than before.

Can this be caused by extra flexible ankles? My left is a bit more flexible than my right (same leg w/ pain). This is probably from swimming when I was young, I can flutter kick 100 scy like 5-10 seconds slower than I swim freestyle!
