Posterior Knee Pain (1)

I’ve been having pain in the back of my knee lately…almost feels like it’s at the top of my calf. I took a week or so off of running, because that seemed to exacerbate it, but as soon as I started running again, it came back. I’ve also noticed in the weight room that if I put a lot of stress on my hamstring, it’ll start hurting. So I think that it could be a tendon in the back of my knee. Anyone have any experience with something like this that may be able to provide some answers or possible treatment options?

Could be poplateil fasa (sp?). Sits basically 180* from your kneecap. For me, it was 'cause my saddle was too high on my bike. Lowered it a bit, and no more pain. Interestingly, even though it was from my saddle, it only showed up on the run. I’m pretty sure it was my saddle height though, since as soon as I lowered it, tha pain went away, and I didn’t change anything else at that time…

Popliteal fossa is the name of the area, popliteus is the name of the muscle:-) It is likely to be that, also gotta watch for Baker’s cyst. I would say get it checked out if the pain persists.
