Hey guys! Anyone else out there a smoothie lover like me? I’m always telling the athletes that I coach they should get more greens in their diet. Easy way to do that is drink smoothies! I love it.
Trying to brainstorm delicious, healthy smoothie ideas!
Here is my latest smoothie recipe, it has coffee beans in it!
I eat almost exclusively smoothies for lunch at work (usually post run or ride at lunch). For convenience I have been buying a lot of frozen fruits/veggies and using them since they’re cheap, ripe when frozen, and always available.
I really don’t measure, just dump stuff in until I hit the “max” line on my Nutribullet.
Two of my favorite “go-to” smoothies are a green smoothie and berry smoothie. I find I can add pretty much anything to those and it will either taste like kiwi or berries.
For both I start with:
-1 bananna (fresh, ripe)
-greens of choice (I like to cycle various greens: kale, spinach, turnip, mustard, collard greens)
-a little bit of “other green veggies” (ie brocolli or green bean)
-some frozen corn for carbs (or premade plain oatmeal)
-about 1/2 cup of plain greek yogurt (supposedly kiwi can react with yogurt if given enough time, but I’ve never had an issue if drinking immediately)
-about 1 tablespoon of chia seed and brewers yeast
For my green smoothie, I add:
1 kiwi (I usually buy these bulk when in season, quarter them with skin on, and freeze them for later. throw them in the bullet skin and all)
about 1/4 cup pistachios
For my berry smootie I add:
a good portion of frozen berries (raspberry/blackberry/blueberry mix is my fav)
about 1/4 cup of almonds
Actually 3 (one is sour cherries for baking) plus pear, apple, plumb and a massive mess of raspberries. We mostly just freeze the stuff and smoothify over the winter. I hate throwing food out so we just do mostly random smoothies of frozen stuff and what ever is on its way out.
Don’t be too jealous, the cherry trees are almost done, about 50 years old. When we have to cut them down it will be a big mess, back hoe etc.

If you want I’ll swap for your house in Vegas
