Post a cover song way better than its original

Tegan and Sarah (names of two Dr Who companions, BTW)

Petty seemed to think Vedder owned his song.

ā€œI really do feel close to this song, but I’ll tell ya, you’ve never heard it until you hear Eddie Vedder sing it.ā€ -Tom Petty

Bruce stepped on the message by recording Born in the USA in a major key. This is more powerful.

not sure if this is better, but i like it

and I keep coming back to this one - not because its better but because its different

I like the music to his Stand By Me cover, but I can handle his voice.

Another Petty cover… really starting to appreciate her talent.

Same, recently. Probably with her bluegrass cover of Jolene, which isn’t exactly recent but deserves a spot in this thread if not exactly better than the original.

I’m surprised there hasn’t been a mega star Petty tribute album yet.

ā€œFirst. Aid. Kit.ā€

I think I put that up there/here a while ago, but good to revisit; thanks

Yeah, I missed it, too

Like most yanks I just discovered this guy over the weekend. His KISS cover brings a different vibe so not really a fair comparison, but it is excellent. Boy’s got some serious chops.
