I just thought it was very well executed. Backing vocals were a bit off, I thought lead was fine. Also just taken aback by the drummer/singer. Did not expect that voice coming out of that human. After watching it I went through some of that bands other videos - all very well done. They have received praise from many of the artists they cover. I’d say they are a few steps higher than most wedding bands.
It could also be that I never really gave the original song more than a passing listen whenever it was on some shitty car stereo.
Is it truly a cover when you get 2/3 of the original band to play with you?
Considering that they brought sounds/style that they didn’t have 40+ years ago (oh FUCK!!!) I say "do NOT call The Police!!!
Sorry - for that joke, I apologize to ALL of you, and your families; past, present, and future
ETA: there is NO doubt that Christian McBride tried to get Stewart Copeland involved - they wouldn’t have to be in the same room together, so THAT problem is alleviated; PLUS, it’s Christian’s arrangement so Sting couldn’t boss the others around - but he’s been busy with press for his animal sounds orchestra and some other stuff, like operas in Italy
