Possible Left atrial enlargement

Possible Left atrial enlargement sinus bradycardia with occasional Premature atrial complexesThis is the result of a recent EKG. Is this something I should be really concerned with? From what I know or read this is a “normal”, condition.I am a 69 year old duathlete, doing well at the local duathlons, have done Nationals and went to Worlds in 2008.Have had a number of injuries, achilles tear (took about a year to heal), pulled upper quad, tendenitus and the gout, I don’t need a heart problem, although if it is what it is I’ll have to live with it.Anybody have experience with this or any suggestions?Going back to see the Doc in March, for another EKG

Have your doc, order an echocardiogram. Left Atrial size /measurements are a routine part of echocardiography. Left Atrial enlargement is common in athletes and is considered a normal variance.
However Left Atrial Enlargement can also be caused by Mitral Valve incompetence or the possibility of an atrial septal defect.
If you do not have a murmur or other symptoms, I would be willing to bet that it might be a case of Athletes heart.
Get an echocardiogram to rule out any other factors.

Hope that helps.
Ps Im Not a Doctor.

Thanks for the information, I’ll ask the doc for the echocardiogram. Good to know that I have a heart of an athlete.
But you do talk like a doctor.
