Position - Video

I did this video to see if there was a difference between two cycling shoes that I have … I can’t see any but who knows…

hard to tell. Position looks good to me in both. You have the same arch in your back as I do, sometimes makes me wonder if I need to get a little more forward on the seat, which makes the back flatter near the neck as opposed to actually having the ‘rainbow’ effect. Although both feel comfy to me.

Depends on the day ( I don’t know why ) it’s flatter …

Just like you … doesn’t bother me … I’m comfy this way.

I’m no expert but it looks like you are really working to get your leg over the top? If you look at yourself head on in a mirror or something you MAY see your knee move out to the side to get a little more clearance as it goes over the top to avoid banging into your torso. If so, it may be that your hip angle is too acute. Just my very unqualified .02.

Your seat is too high. Seriously.

With your seat an inch lower and an aero helmet on you’re going to look a little like Lance Armstrong judging by the curve of your back.

Agree…some people, including me, just have “turtle back” and it’s just a fact of life. You can put yourself in some awfully bad positions just trying to straighten it out. Just go with it…

slide your saddle forward a few centimeters, which will effectively lower it about what, 1 cm? This will open up your hip angle slightly, and it seems to me will even out your weight distribution between arms and saddle.

Also, you may be a candidate for shorter cranks.

This is something good to try , i’m using this saddle position for more than an year. Why the shorter crancks ? I’m using 172.5

It looks like you are ever so slightly stretched out. Maybe a shorter stem, or seat forward slightly more. It looks like you could be supporting more weight on your elbows and using less muscle to hold yourself up.

I don’t see a thing wrong with your position. Looks really great to me. When you stop and post the question, “is my seat too high?” you drop your heel and it straightens your leg … making it look like your seat’s too high. But when you’re spinning, it doesn’t look too high. Per the poster who said it looks like you’re struggling to get over the top … I don’t see that at all.

I sure wouldn’t change a thing based on any of the input I’ve read so far.

The only question I have is if maybe your bike isn’t a bit too small. You’ve made it work … so not a big thing.
.

I didn’t realize that I dropped the heel … but you are right , I did … I measure the angles and when I’m spinning I’m about 150 degrees and when I stop is around 153… funny.

Well I can’t lower the saddle anyway, I spent 2 months testing various seat heights related with power production and knee discomfort … and this was the best for me even if people think the seat is too high.

This bike is a little on lower size for me . I bought a P2C size 54 ( this blade is 53 ) that I think is at right size.

I maybe will create a comparison video between both …

Thanks,
