My kids who were in grade 5 (boy) and grade 2 (girl) saw the real thing in Florence. They’re ok. The boy laughed a little. Not as much though as when they saw the nudes in the MoMa.
Some people are incredibly repressed when it comes to nudity. Friends of ours in college that were a couple said the guy had never seen the woman nude after they had been dating for a long time. She grew up in a big Catholic family and it was a big deal about keeping covered up.
The irony being at some later point half of our group of friends saw her naked because she passed out on the porch of a house in some state of nudity and they all had to walk past her in the morning to go home.

I know you’re being funny, but it’s ridiculous that just seeing a naked person of any age could be considered perverted. I seem to recall a bunch of naked babies with wings floating around being pretty common in Renaissance paintings.

In a sane fucking atmosphere there wouldn’t be the slightest whiff of concern from anyone over any human being viewing one of the most revered, publicly displayed sculptures in human history that shows nothing more than the human form.

not saying it was sane but this impulse has been around for a long time. The Vatican went around applying fig leaves to nudity in the 16th century. The Victorians did it with sculpted versions on classical statues.
this is in no way to excuse the impulse but prudery (censorship/denial) is part of the wiring. It’s foundational in Genesis. The sad thing is we can’t seem to rationalise our way beyond it.
