Poor Evans with his Campy Bora wheel

Don’t you mean that due to Cadel moving aster the time savings would be greater - not less?

Nope…Dave has it right, and it’s because we’re talking about time savings over a fixed distance (not speed increases). In short, Cadel has more savings per second, but there’s less seconds that he’s on the course. It’s a bit counterintuitive, but it’s reality…and thats why when people say that aero savings aren’t “worth it” for the average AG’er going slower than a top pro I just have to chuckle to myself a bit

Look here and click on the center panel link called “Aero Savings - Slow Riders vs. Fast Riders” for a more detailed explanation:

I think Superdave pointing out the frame differences is interesting. Evans is riding a rebadged bike, who knows why they didn’t rebadge a P2C or at least a P2k.

Though this whole debate becomes especially moot if you consider the fact that both are riding tubulars instead of say vf clinchers.

…speed is in the details…

Imagine what would have happened if George had shaved that morning…

Funny…

It sure looks to me like Cadel *was *wearing shoe covers, they just happened to be sublimated to look like his sponsor’s shoes…

Hmmm…you may be right. I took a look at some Graham Watson photos and it’s definitely possible…pretty hard to tell from the pics.

That’s OK…there’s plenty of other places equipment-wise he could’ve gained the 23 seconds
