Ok, once in a while at masters swim I get the sudden urge to go pee during the workout. So I tell the coach I’ll be right back and go to the rest room to do the do (not the doo!!!). I got this strange look from the coach and the other swimmers (the why are you getting out of the pool to pee look) but I get out anyway and it only took a minute. One time that comes to memory when I had a super amount of fluid to evacuate and there is no way that it would have gone un-noticed nor have been cool to pee in the pool at that time (many many folks in the same lane).
Are people really peeing in the pool? I’m afraid to know the answer but I am very curious. -Please don’t include visits to the local water park, well ok if it’s funny.
Dunno about others but I’m not. I just can’t do that to the other folks in the pool. No matter how many people there are or how badly I have to go. For some reason I feel differently about lakes…hmmm. I should check that.
I really hope not…I only half turn my face out of the water so I get a bit of a chlorine taste in my mouth…I hope that’s only chlorine…if people are peeing in the pool then I’m giving up swimming…personally, I thinkt he right thing to do at a public pool is to hit the bathroom, no debate necessary.
I physically cannot pee in a pool. All the conditioning as a kid to not pee in the pool has stuck with me. It takes the long walk to the bathroom and sometimes a little longer for my bladder to loosen up. I can pee in the ocean though, no problem…kj
Everyone on my swim team pees in the pool. Typically we’ll sink to the bottom of the deep end and stay down there for 50 yards (about 30-40 seconds) to pee and then jump right back in line. I have not been able to pee while swimming. I can however start peeing at the wall and then push off and swim easy while still peeing. But never ever would I consider getting out of the pool.
Yesterday in the middle of a 1;10 continuous swim I tried. I absolutely couldn’t. I can pee in a lake to no end, but I’m afraid that the years of lifeguarding have instilled a mental block.
When I swam competitively in highschool our coach told us there was a ‘tracer’ in the pool. The ‘tracer’ chemicals would turn bright red if you peed and then everyone would know you had peed. Since then I am terrified of tracers and will only pee in lakes or the ocean.

There are no such “tracer” chemicals. That’s a myth made up to keep people from peeing in the pool…kj
