Pool in Vegas?

Any good 50 m pools in Vegas?

The Silverman course won´t be open until raceday so if I need to swim where do I go?

Is there a pool at the Bellagio Hotel where we´re staying?

Jonas -

I was just in LV two weeks ago. I didn’t stay at the Bellagio, but I was in the hotel for meetings. There is a pool, and it’s a decent length (maybe, 20-30m) but it’s not necessarily there for lap swimming. My feeling is that if you wanted to get in a swim, you’d have to get there early and beat the crowds.

I checked around at the other hotels (I was at the Monte Carlo, next door to the Bellagio) and there wasn’t anything within walking distance.

the best bet I could find was here: http://www.cityofhenderson.com/parks/facilities/HMGC/php/MultigenOutdoorCompetitivePool.php

One other option that I just recalled was the UNLV campus. I called over there and they said it was no problem to swim there, but I just never made it.

Here is a link to the usa swimming club search. I think the results page is linked. Most of the clubs seem to have contact information and websites.

Edit: You have to type in “Las Vegas” and select “Nevada”

former las vegan checking in …

there are several nice pools not too far from the strip (although i know nothing of the pool at the bellagio).

  • Whitney Ranch In Door Pool – this is where I swam a lot when I lived in Vegas. About a 15 minute drive from the strip. Very nice indoor lap pool. 575 C Galleria Drive Phone 267-5870

  • Henderson Multi Gen Pool in Green Valley (near The District). Very nice outdoor lap pool with a small indoor lap pool. I swam here when it was warm (most of the year in vegas).

  • Las Vegas Municipal Pool. Near Las Vegas Blvd and Bonanza. Large indoor pool, but not as nice as the Whitney Ranch pool. A little sketchy because of the location (as unPC as it it to say).

There’s a long course meters Masters swim meet every year at Desert Breeze Indoor Pool in Las Vegas. I’ve never been there and have no idea if they are running the pool meters or yards at this time of year, but it looks like they at least have generous lap swim times:

(even though the link says “Aquatics03”, this seems to be the most recent schedule. Best to call, though)

Can’t answer for Vegas - but my wife just gave me a copy of the “Athletic-Minded Traveller” (I travel a ton for work and am always looking to workout somewhere.

Find it really useful. Think there is a website too…

Best site for pools, http://www.swimmersguide.com, has below. If you do the search each one resolves to a link about the pool. These WERE in a nice table - doesn’t post well.

I believe theres an aquatic center at the multigenerational complex in henderson where the bike to run transition is
for silverman not sure of the pool length though.

There are a number of 24 hour fitness there that have pools but I think they are 25 yards not meters.

We stayed at Harrahs for interbike and they had a 25m pool. I’m sure you could just sneak in, they weren’t checking where anyone was actually staying. The water was freezing cold though.

yes, Jonas, there are 4 pools at the Bellagio. There is even a 25 yard lap pool, specifically for fitness swimmers. Hopefully it will be open as they only keep certain pools open during the slow season. The Bel is a great hotel. BTW, they have a breakfast buffet in one of the restaurants that is awesome, and relatively decent price-wise.

I used to swim with Vegas Masters at Desert Breeze. The hotel pools are terrible, too short, OVER chlorinated. Best bet it head over to the Multi-Gen in Henderson or Desert Breeze. Both are beautiful 50 yd pools. At Desert Breeze MWF mornings they swim short course 25 yd and T-Th long course 25 yd. Workouts start at 0530 to 700, typically swim 3K-5K. Excellent program and coaching, very good swimmers.

The Silverman swim is at Hemmingway harbor, but if you continue down the Lake Mead road another 1.5-2.0 miles you will come to Boulder Beach special events beach. You can swim here anytime. There are buoys always up telling boats not to enter…this is not a boat launch site. This is the swim location for most local tris…I swim here a couple of times a month.
