If you’re flying out of San Diego Int’l, your best bet—which is right off I-5 about four or five miles south of downtown Carlsbad—is Magdalena Ecke YMCA. Excellent masters coaches in Chris or Colleen.

Or do an open water swim at Mission Bay park. till warm enough to not need a wetsuit. Just swam there last Thursday.
