I’m a jammer guy. Just can’t get myself to wear a speedo.
jammers
.
I say train how you race, so I wear a pair of biking shorts with the pad removed for swimming.
Tell me about jammers and why I should get a pair. Do they stand up to chlorine better? Are they any different than a pair of bike shorts? Please give me a review.
Thanks
Jammers. I still have many more friends out of triathlon than in and well…
Jammers. They are a little more modest, and hide my bike geek mid-thigh tanlines nicely.
The young hotshot swimmers around the university pool are wearing something different. It is made of nylon, not lycra, and looks like a pair of no-inseam athletic shorts.
I go halfway- Speedo with a 4" side. They are the standard training attire for most of my pool gang, they double up well when they start to get thin, and most of all, have all the pool cred without the anatomy lesson included.
Never tried the jammers; maybe I should for a thrill.
When I was a real swimmer, I wore Speedos racings suits (and not Arenas or other interloopers). Now that I am a 40 year old, more or less middle aged man, I still wear Speedos, but either a larger nylon practice suit or the fitness model that looks more or less like gym shorts. The larger suits don’t affect my speed at all; I can’t swim as fast as I could when I was 13 wearing either model.
swimsuits are made for swimming, made to deal with chlorine and water, while bike shorts are not.
I train in Speedo Fastskin Jammers
Speedo and drag suit.
oh, and not that anyone would do this, but drag suits are not stand alone swimsuits…they go OVER your jammer or brief.
speedo you bizzo
.
“Speedo and drag suit.”
Exactly - that combo lasts a long time. Has anyone ever actually worn a nylon drag suit out?
Tri Shorts… Never worn a speedo in my life. Yuk!
It would probably scare the children…
Not familiar with the term ‘jammers’ but assuming that you’re talking about swimsuits that look like bike shorts I have to say I’m a jammers guy. I guess the other benefit is not having to worry about waxing your bikini line?
I like the Speedo Fastskin shorts myself…
Used to always wear the speedo when I was swimming at a pool where everyone wore one. Now that I’m in a more “conservative” area I’ve switched to the mid-length Tyr suits. The polyester ones last a real long time and since the club that I work out at requires a walk through the lobby from the change room to the pool I don’t feel like a dork (at least not as much of a dork) as I would if I was walking around the place in a speedo.
Isn’t drag suit another way of saying just wear trunks?
Jammers, but I’ve been caught in a speedo on occassion
.
DeSoto tri shorts for morning workouts, Speedos reserved for afternoon workouts (tan line) and swim meets. DeSoto shorts last for many moons, Speedos are shot (and becoming obscene) after six weeks of daily swimming.
But ya gotta have the bod. No six-pack, no Speedo.
Speedos - Always. Wear them at the beach and at my building’s swimming pool as well. There is nothing worse than shorts’ (or jammers’) tan lines. EDIT DISCLAIMER - I am originally from Brazil
Do you mean these http://www.speedousa.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/products.detail/categoryID/e746683a-a751-4f7c-94c5-adefa3d52dea/productID/3cb9a058-a381-4d1c-8c44-5d9ab2c84d59/
I noticed that they are $110.00, do they last a long time? I go through a pair of TYR jammers every couple of months which I find frustrating, but if the Fastskins last for close to a year they may be worth it.
