POLL Curious to see what cycling shoes people are wearing

Would be interested in a poll here. Perhaps, in addition to the current running shoe poll, this could be another…

I am wearing Sidi T4… (Sidi has always worked well for me and narrow feet, however, now as I am older, feels a little bit hard. Had all the earlier T models as well…)

Maybe there was a past poll. If so, would love the link…

Shimano RC9, TR9, RC7 (old, indoor or ugly road weather), XC5 (gravel with SPD). All in wide form, except the TR9. Once I found something to accommodate my wide feet, I haven’t looked elsewhere.

Giro Techlace, Giro Empire ACC for road, For MTB or gravel Sidi Dominator 7, Giro Privateer and Fizik Artica X5 for cold snow play.

Still using some Sidi Ergo2 Carbons from 2008. They are on their last legs, so I also have some RC7s that are really good as well.

For tri racing, Some LG LA84 laceups modified for increased aerodynamics.

Racing: Bontrager Ballista (the non-knit version). It has a single boa dial on the back of the shoe. I like to think it’s one of the faster shoes out there.
Training: Bont Vaypor Classic (the lace up one).

Lake CX332 most of the time… and Giro SLX with elastic laces for tris.

Was in a set of Giro Imperials but the Boa snapped, non-warrantied, and the shoes were $400+ so screw that.

I have wide flat feet with old lady bunions. Sidi Alba 2’s changed my life.

Fizik Vento Powerstrap R2 Aerowave. Light, airy, comfortable. Velcro adjustment is infinite.

Shimano RC9
.

Shimano 2012 R315. Old but working

S-Works, 3rd pair. Fantastic shoes. First 2 pairs are not worn out and are very durable - I just wanted newer ones.

Very difficult feet here, and finally bit the bullet and went custom with Lamson.

Shimano RC901 for everything in the past 4 years.
I buy each several months a different pair to try and send back as they don’t fit. Latest to return Bont Vaypor 2023 wide

S Works. They are comfortable, easy to adjust on the fly and literally indestructible.

RC9 is default road shoe, have a pair of lake CX241s in chrome for when I want to be loud.

MTB/Gravel/Cross is XC9 or RX8 depending on the day/course.

I have a set of SIDI ergos around, but I find them heavy and poorly ventilated.

I don’t Tri any more, had some giro? tri shoes, don’t even remember the brand.

My wife has a pair of Rapha Pro Teams that I would really like to try.

Once you find a brand that suits your feet well there is little reason to not buy their top of the line shoe. I like Shimano, and their S-phyre shoes are $300-$400, the next step down is $150-$200. In a sport defined by thousands of dollars why would you try to pinch pennies on the only drivetrain connection you have to your bike? I’d go further and say it’s fully worth going to bike shops and paying retail (gasp) to make sure the shoes are a good fit.

Lake CX 238 Wide, love them!
