Polar rs800 Question - How to create intervals or a training plan

I have a question that hope someone can answer for me. I’m sure there are individuals out there that have done this with their Polar watches. I’m looking to create and/or upload a training and interval plan and upload it to my watch to use while riding or running. I’d like to set something up that would parallel the following.
5-10 min warm up
interval one
recover
interval two
recover
…etc…you get the idea. (something created like a *.erg file on a computrainer)

Is there a website that I can go to for quick reference other than reading the whole rs800 manual? (I know, I’m lazy)

I know the first thing that comes to my head is ‘read the ***ing manual’ but if there is a quick and easy way to do this I’d appreciate the feedback and ‘cliff’s notes’ version of setting up, creating and downloading traning plan/intervals to the watch.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Im short on time so maybe Wayne will come on here and explain it to you in detail but you can set it up through the Polar Pro Trainer 5 that comes with the watch. It takes like 5 min and it works like a charm. I gotta head to work but if no one gives you a clear explanation by the time i get back ill detail it for you this afternoon.

Falco,
Thanks a ton, I’d really appreciate it. I’m prob over complicating it and would really appreciate a quick easy way to setup and create training plans in polar pro trainer 5 and then download to my watch. Before I sold my computrainer I would create *.erg training files for a tempo day, longer training day, interval day…etc… then run the file on the day I wanted to do the exercise. Want to do the same thing with my polar.
Thanks again.

Hey,

Chris from Polar USA here.

What you want to do is in the Polar software.

Start up PT5 and click on Tools> Training Plan

Click on “New”. Name the Set - enter whatever other settings you want into the general target detail page.

Double click on the Phase window. The phase box should open.

Add, delete, edit all the intervals, warm ups…etc… in this window.

Click OK to save it.

You can do this for as many different target days as you would like. I like to structure my week out, and often times repeat my schedule the following week. You can save the individual days and training plans in the Training Plan window you opened originally. You can even share the plans with people - IE > here using the export/import function.

Now what you want to do is sync up your watch with the IRDA. Make sure transfer dialog box has “Update Training Program in Polar product” checked and you should be all set.

Let us know if you have any Q’s .

Does anyone here on ST have any training plans they have created they would want to share?

Hey Chris,

Wayne still with the company or is he just not on this forum anymore??

Hey Flaco,

Wayne is still with Polar and still here on the forums. I believe his travel schedule right now is heavy, which means limited ST access:)

Chris

I am still here, thanks for the concern! I was just very busy today and did not do my morning key word search on ST. PM me your phone # and we can share some interval files or thoughts. Thanks

LOL or were you slacking like Paul down here!!
