Polar RS800 Heart rate monitor and T31

Hello,
I am struggling to connect a T31 belt to an RS800 hrm.
Current view on my watch in three levels starting from top of screen shows: date then time then start

How do I connect a T31 belt which I purchased separately for swimming?

Thanks

I guess I will break the bad news, the only transmitter that will work with the RS800 and RS800cx are the WIND Wear Links. Your T31/T31c will work with other wrist units that are none WIND. If you want timers/splits for your pool workout, stay with the RS series. If you use the clock at the pool, then stay with a FT unit. 2.4ghz technology does not work under water. The new RCX5 will since it has a dual signal Wear Link transmitter.

Hello Wayne,
thanks for your reply.
I purchased a Polar in response to someone else using one with a T31 for swimming according to heartrate. I am keen to train accoring to heart rate and had based the purchase on a swimmer who regularly uses same i.e. a T31 and a Polar 400.

What are your thoughts?
best regards
John

Wayne,
As anafterthought, does this mean the T31 will work with the 400 model?
Best regards
John

Yes. You can call Polar USA and ask for me if you questions need detailed answers that might be too much to explain.

Hi Wayne,
I have just emailed you offline.
best regards

Fair enough.
How does this guy swim with his Polar HRM?

For proof, you will need to look at the pictures for “the channel first swim” to see his HRM as he gets set for a 6-hour open water swim.

The 400 looks very similar to the 800. What makes you think he’s using an RS800? I can assure you, The 800 only works with a W.I.N.D. Transmitter. The 400 however, will work with the T31 or T31C.

Hi there,
He is using the 400. I had assumed -ouch- that the 800 and 400 were quite similar, only that the 800 offered a thermometer which I use on my Suunto and when I read the specs, signal-wise, I didn’t pick up a difference between the 400 & 800.

They do have a new watch ( RCX5) comming out shortly that will be dual band. The transmitter it comes with uses both W.I.N.D. and 5Khz. This way when in the water it can still pick up the signal.
