Polar ProTrainer 5 Software

Has anyone entered the wokouts one by one to ProTrainer? After you enter all your future training to the software, did you transfer them to the wrist unit?

Actually love the PPT5 software, certain watches like the RS400 an RS800 with guided workouts seem to do more with the software than the older models. But it’s neat seeing your week showing in your watch and the blanks fill in as you get them in. Day’s workouts, shoe mileage, etc… are all in the watch. The more you do with PPT5 and and the right watch, the more you start depending on it, almost like doing a long run without your mp3 player if your used to always running with one.

Love to see some of the stuff the RS800cx can do over the rs400, but just couldn’t swing/justify it cost wise.

I’ve been staring at the disc for about 7 months now. Pisses me off that its not Mac compatible. Sooner or later I’ll pick up Parallels and Windows so that I can use the toys that come with the great watch. That’s a big bummer- pricey tri gear requiring unanticipated pricey computer gear to run said pricey tri gear. Bummer.

Another proud triathlete sucker, er…I mean consumer here.

Are you considering a Polar that downloads to PT5? Not sure if you know our product line. The RS400 with no speed/distance will download to PT5 and is a great value. The RS400 will will download and show time in zones, which our one of our USA development Cross Country Ski teams utiize. If you are into speed and distance, then jump up to the RS800 or RS800CX. The “CX” will show google earth with the G3 GPS. This is a quick overview, you can PM with any question

G’day,

Could you tell me if when using the Rs800CX with the G3 GPS and either the running S3, or the cycling wind speed/cadence sensors that I would have both the speed/cadence info from the sensors and be able to view the .gpx data after the ride. I would prefer the sensor data during the workout, but I’d really also like to see where I’ve gone as well afterwards. Hope this makes sense without carrying another gps.

Peace

I have the RS800CX, and that’s how it works. Basically, if you are using a speed sensor, the speed sensor will provide the speed/distance information and the G3 would only provide the GPS information. The G3 - Google Earth capability is acutally kinda fun, although the novely has worn off after about a month. I guess it will see more action when I explore new cycling routes in the spring.

I’ll agree with the novelty of the gps mapping. I only use it now if I’m going out on a new route and want to look at it later.
