Has anyone tried to replace the battery in their Polar HRM themselves? Polar won’t guarantee water resistance unless they do it but I think that’s true of most watches, and I’ve never had one leak after letting a watch repair shop do it.
Has anyone sent their HRM to Polar for replacement? How long did it take?
Yes, but only in the wrist watch piece. I’ve never tried to open the transmitter chest strap. After replacing the batter, put a little dielectric grease around the rubber gasket and it will be waterproof again. Dielectric greese is clear and is sold at autoparts stores. It comes in a little tube about the size of a lip balm tube. Its an easy repair.
Thanks for the tip. I didn’t think it could be too complicated. I’ve got IMFL coming up on 11/5 and the low batery light has just come on so I’m not big on the idea of shipping it off right now.
Don’t want to highjack the thread, but maybe you or others know the answer. The audio “beep and alarm” sound is very faint. You can only hear it if you hold the watch to your ear. Is this a sign that the battery is low? Everything else is working fine. I don’t see a low battery indicator (did not know there was one).
That sounds more like something has the holes clogged? Try clearing the 2 on the side or the 3 on the bottom, sometimes sweat and dirt get packed in them.
There is a low battery indicator for the watch in bottom right corner of the screen. It comes on and stays on when the battery is low.
not all the watches have a low battery indicator. most of the time the display will fade first before the beep but that could be the problem. somtimes if you’ve given the watch a hard accidental whack it’ll crack the little piezo “speaker” and it’ll get really faint, did this on several timex watches.
