Been dealing with my H10 strap acting super weird lately.
It will drop out after 30-40 minutes of work. I put a fresh battery in, but same story. Works great for 30 minutes, but after then, it shows my HR at like 60 or 70. Re-pairing to my device will help for 2 minutes, but then it drops out again.
I noticed a very tiny bit of rust inside the battery cavity - could that be the issue (or hint at the issue)?
I don’t want to shell out $100 for a new strap if I don’t have to, but the polar strap has been MUCH better than the garmins I’ve used previously.

I had a similar problem with mine, but it turned out to probably be all my fault. It’d start to go through batteries super fast, to the point where a new battery would go dead in the space of one workout. I got one replaced under warranty, and the warranty report said there was corrosion internally.
The replacement started to do the same thing, and I was about to get ready to be mad at Polar, then I noticed the 2025 battery spec. I had been putting 2032’s in probably all along - just my assumption. And a 2032 causes no obvious problem. The battery cover gives a satisfying click and sits perfectly flush like you’d expect. But I bet I was getting a crap seal and eating away the electronics internally. I’m doing the honest thing and not asking for a second warranty replacement given it’s pure user error.
I just checked and the same thing happened to me. I’ll be ordering a new one. Lol. I’ve been using the wrong battery.
Wayne@Polar, if you’re listening, put in a request to idiot-proof the H10 in the future. Maybe big-ass block numbers on the cover so us super tech-savvy types who are too smart to RTFM don’t destroy nice things. To be fair, I have like 6-7 devices on and around my bike that use 2032s. So it’s easy just to assume that all things are 2032.

Might as well go RIGHT to the source for all things in wearable and training technology - Ray Maker’s blog. This is a good post from Ray about recent upgrades to the Polar H10 Chest Strap - hardware and software, with his extraordinary attention to detail, but the REAL value here is in the comments - lots of real-world experience and people weighing in on various trouble shooting strategies for various issues - https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2021/12/polar-h10-heart-rate-monitor-very-long-term-in-depth-review.html
Example - Battery Life, of the actual sensor unit can be extended massively by simply removing it from the strap between sessions. Or if worried about losing it, just leave one side clicked in. When you have both clicked in, it takes a LONG time to go into full sleep mode, and is thus using up battery power doing that.

I had the same issues with a brand new one out of the box and polar told me my strap was worn out…. It was brand new out of the box! My return window on Amazon was quickly closing so I sent it back and went in the opposite direction of a cheap Coospo. It’s only been about a month or so but this thing is so stupidly solid works so flawlessly it’s embarrassing. Of course no bells and whistles but wtf this thing is off the charts just works good and it’s 1/5 the price of a polar. Food for thought.

Hope this helps!
Funny enough, the $30 CooSpo HRM emphasize removing the pod several times in their instructions for that reason. Coming from the non removable Garmin Tri it was a little bit of an adjustment, but like the idea of replacing the cheap strap vs the whole thing.
Also, why pretty much anything is designed around the 25 and not 32 battery I really don’t understand. The extra height is pretty minimal, but the added capacity is meaningful.
