Polar CS200 computer?

Anyone have experience with the Polar CS200 cycle computer? I use a Polar s520 HRM and I need a computer for my new tri bike. I thought is would be nice to have the integrated HR and cycle functions all in one unit and I like the dual (cadence/speed) wireless set-up. Anyone have problems with this unit? Since I already have a speed sensor from the 520 all I need is another cadence senaor and a mounting bracket to swap the CS200 between my road and tri bikes.

I’m quite happy with my CS200. Main criteria is easy to read display. (I don’t change it much during the ride, but the nice big buttons are easy to press and hard to miss.)

Note that you will not be able to use your old speed sensor with the CS200. The CS series uses different speed and cadence sensors than previous Polar watches.

I have CS100b, which doesn’t include the heartrate monitor for about $70. I already have S625x, so I can use the Polar Heartrate monitor from that. The old sensors will not work, but the new sensors (speed & cadance) are backward compatible. I use the CS100 to display the information and the S625x to record the information for uploading to the PC later.

I have a S625X and I wanted a permanently mounted bike computer so I contacted Polar about the adding the S200 so I could use both. Polar said that the S625X and the CS200 did not work together.

How did you get them to work together and when you talking about new and old sensors is the CS200 considered the “new”?

No issues with the wireless cadence reliability? It’s kind of a long transmission from the chainstay to the stem. I know the wireless speed sensor from my current computer doesn’t work from the back wheel.

I’ve been using it for about 3 months and love it. The only thing i don’t like is the cadence sensor has to be mounted on the downtube, not the chainstay. It’s functional, easy to navigate through and (as mentioned) has a big display and big buttons.

I have the CS200CAD and it works great for me. No problems.

I also have a S625X. I cannot get the 625 to reliably read either of the CS200 sensors, nor can I get the CS200 to reliably read either of the 625 sensors. The only thing that does work with both is the heart rate transmitter.

I use both the 625 and the CS200 for racing, but only the CS200 for training. In races, I wear the 625 in all three events, just hitting the lap button at the entry and exit of transitions. That way I have the 625 for monitoring heart rate on the run and the CS200 for HR on the bike. (It’s too hard for me to read the watch reliably while in the aero position.) I don’t normally use the footpod since most races have mile markers on the run course.

The CS unit should pick up the speed from a S series speed sensor. The 625 will not hear the speed sensor a CS unit. The cadence unit will not work with eachother.

I’ve been using it for a while. I got a bad speed sensor with the new one which was eventually replaced. The sensors were a bit finicky, but I think that’s par for the course. One funny part about the speed sensor was when I was talking to the technicianl and troubleshooting he asked me what king of fork I was mounting it to. When I told him it was carbon, he said it might not work then – I laughed for a minute straight and told them good luck trying to sell the things to anyone with a modern road bike! It works just fine.

Sorry to hijack but has anyone else noticed that the calorie feature on this CS200 runs about 1/3 high? I am referencing it to an SRM that is on another bike and am assuming my recovery/endurance rides don’t really have me burning 1000+/- calories an hour.

Thoughts/perspectives?

On topic my cadence sensor stopped working after a week but they replaced it no problems.

Does your SRM ask you all the data the Polar USER settings asks?

An SRM or any other powermeter doesn’t need to ask for the info because it actually measures kilojules. The Polar makes an estimate.

I do the EXACT same thing and it works well for me too. I do have a hard time with cadence senosr (mainly from packing and unpacking bike) sort of gave up on that but need to put it back on. I also have issues with the footpod, need to calibrate it a bit better, it’s always too fast. I guess no unit is perfect.

I must be living a charmed life. The S625x I’m using can pick up the “CS” Speed & Cadence sensor’s and they both pick up the HR. It’s nice on rides, I just leave the watch running to record overall information and the CS100 does the “pause” anytime I stop for lights.
