POC Cerebel compared to Giro Aerohead

I know from the other thread that the Aerohead tends to test well on a lot of folks, which is the closest to a statistical conclusion that you can ever draw on a TT lid without testing it for yourself!

Anybody drawn much of a conclusion about the Cerebel? I know Jordan liked it in his write up, but I think I recall that was in spite of it maybe not being the fastest testing lid for him and more to do with ease of use/comfort etc.

Any ERO/A2/Aerocamp folks or attendants willing to comment? Undoubtedly it is cheeky of me to ask, but hey…!

Cheers,
Rich.

well it’s you’re lucky day bc

  1. I checked ST
  2. Heath and I recently (in the last 10d or so) tested someone who tested both helmets.

They tested the same for that dude, within 1w.

The Aerohead also wasn’t the fastest helmet.

We’re going to be at the tunnel in early March for another AeroCamp if you’re interested in answering the what helmet is fastest for you question.

Cerebral tested quite a bit faster for me than the Aerohead, but my current choice of lid is faster than both (although not as many watts faster than the POC than the POC is over the Aerohead). This will likely be of no use to you or anyone else.

Bullseye!

Thanks for coming on Brian, appreciate you sharing that. But I know you won’t be making any recommendations from a sample set of 1…!!!

I would be there with bells on, but unfortunately (in that respect) I am in West Yorkshire, so it is a bit of a trip over for me! Saving up for Xav at Aerocoach or the Drag2zero tunnel.

Big thanks again.

Cheers Grill, and point noted. If I collect enough information it may eventually have a small amount of statistical significance, and slightly improve my chances of making a good choice! I think you already suggested that a POC might be faster for me on another thread where I posted a terrible photo of my position through a door frame wearing board shorts and sandals, at an angle, after having a couple of beers. Which believe it or not might have been what got me thinking about the POC. That, and the fact that the tail on my javelin annoys me a little bit sometimes.

Ta,
Rich.

I’ve had some of my UK/EU based athletes use Drag2Zero in the past and all the data looked good, very consistent baselines on reruns.

We are thinking of doing an AeroCamp then a few days later a Bikes, Beer and BBQ cycling camp in Asheville. That might be worth coming over for especially if you like epic climbs, delicious craft beer and smoked meat.

Xav has all of them to test so no need to waste money on the second fastest.

I’d definitely be up for that…There are few things in life I enjoy more than Bikes, Beer and BBQ…especially BBQ from that area.

So true!!

I’ll try to remember to send you a PM once we set the dates. Lot’s of balls in the air with some bike companies about testing some stuff for them and having product there for you guys to test.

But also check back in with me in case I forget.

I’ll echo Brian and say that overall it has tended to be a good helmet. The POC and Kask look similar but definitely don’t test similarly. The next time we do an AeroCamp I’m going to do some testing of different helmets for myself to see what happens with a few different head positions. I know my LG is fastest for me, but I’ve not been in the tunnel personally in 2 years now. I have pretty good “helmet discipline”. But like most I do look down a bit. I’m interested to see what happens with the AeroHead and POC when that happens. I know drag spikes when I get the tail of my LG up. All interesting stuff for sure. 100’s of hours and we’re still learning.

Bullseye!

Brill, thanks a bunch Heath, really appreciate you guys coming on here and sharing.

No worries, whether it is coaching, fitting or aero testing, we just like making people faster.

Cheers!

I would be so in for this!

Add my name to the list as well. I’ll move around whatever I have to this year to get out there.
