I know there have been some recent threads on sunglasses, but I’m interested to see what you all use for sunglasses on tri bikes. My problem is that my current sunglasses’ frame blocks my vision when I’m riding in the aero position. I tend to look over the top of them to see better, which negates the purpose of the sunglasses. I feel this could be a safety issue (or I’m justifying spending the money on new shades). I’m looking for a pair that don’t have the frame on the top part of the lens, and hopefully polarized. The Rudy Karboneye looks great, but pricey (I know I’m paying a lot if I want polarized). Thanks
Bolle Edge are nice, good coverage, framless, available with modulator lenses. I use these, they stay on mah nose when sweaty and have survived me dropping them on the ground from the bike =)

Oakley Zeros are also cool, similar design:

How about a tinted face shield on your aero helmet
.
I use the Rudy Project Ekynox SX which does have the frame at the top but it sits close enough to my face I never ever have it in my vision. The lenses are vented too between the outside edge of the frame so they never fog which I’ve found useful compared to my old glasses.
I’ve used the Tifosi Vogel and Rudy FaceMask, neither slip down, which is the most important quality to me,…
Rudy’s seem slightly more vented,
Tifosi uses (on some models) a lense that changes tint in different light conditions, if that’s important to you.
what type of aero helmet do you use bc if the giro advatage look in the forums search for how to mount a visor like I did and it is much better than glasses and saves you some money 30 versus 100
.
Oakley Radar.
no aero helmet for me
.
I use the Smith V-TI’s - they’re not frameless but they sit high enough on my face that I can ride all day in the aerobars and not notice the frames at all.
Depends on your face and how low you get when tucked into the aerobars. Personally I’ve experienced great success with my Jawbones, the Rudy Project Sportmasks are pretty popular too.
I’ve been using the Specialized Arc II with my aero helmet and have been happy with them - polarized, photosensitive, and a high enough top rim that it isn’t visible when down on the aerobars.
Suncloud Excursion. They are made by Smith and are polarized. The lenses compare very favorably to my polarized ray bans. They run only $50 and are rimless and super lightweight. http://www.sunglasses-int.com/EXPPGYBK.html?utm_source=gbase&utm_medium=classified&utm_term=EXPPGYBK+Excursion&utm_campaign=gbase
My favorites aren’t polarized, but they work well when aero, offer full UV protection, are very cheap ($4 or less), and unlike most cycling-specific glasses they’re ANSI Z87.1-2003 and CSA Z94.3 certified to protect your eyes from impact:
Aos Safety glasses found at lowes maybe home depot. I’ve been using them for years good thing is they are $9.95 to $14.95.
no rim across the top they fit pretty good and lens are good and uv sunglasses to boot…
I just by about 5 pair and have extras use one for bike then one for run and one pair for training.
I remember doing foster grant focus group for ironman foster grants in 2004 in lake placid and everyone was talking(younger guys) about their 300 dollar this and that.
Came to me I presented mine $9.95 can’t beat it use the other 200 bucks to help pay for my entry fee in next ironman.
go to lowes.com search for aos or just drop by and find them (ones without the bar across the top.
yep, this is a good approach as well, especially when its not bright out.
sometimes the cheap options might not fit comfy or stay put on your nose when sweaty and leaned over
but sometimes they do! and you win! =)

I like these Ryder sunglasses. They stay on your face and don’t obstruct your view. They’re moderately priced at $40.

agree 100% on these. all of my buddies are wearing Oakley Zeros now. no frame on top…super light. i think they are hard to find in stores though. probably best to buy online.
I dont really have any problem with my jawbones in the aero position. work fine, since they stay up on my nose really well even when sweaty, and they have a very wide viewing angle for me.
+1 on the Ryders. But rather than the Diamond, I like the Spade…the lens is a bit bigger for more shielding. Also, been wearing them for a year and they never slip down my nose.

Nashbar NoFrames. $10, and they work.
Practically disposable at that price (which is regularly, as they are “on sale” pretty much 364 days a year it seems
Not the most durable, but I feel much better when I trash $10 shades than $$$ ones.
