Please help me win argument -- Campy Question

So my friend just got a new PT hub (Campy) laced to her 808. She had a spare cassette and tried to put it on but apprently had lost one of the spacers so it didn’t fit. She has a training wheel and a Campy-equipped road bike. The wrench she spoke to told her that “Campy is different and you can’t swap cassettes like on Shimano.” I told her to take a cassette from one of her other wheels and she’s good to go. She doesn’t believe me and is contemplating spending $$$$ on a new Record cassette.

I may be totally wrong here, but I’ve never heard that you can’t take a Campy cassette from one wheel and put it on another Campy-compatible hub. Can someone please set this straight so I can at least gain a moral victory even if she doesn’t believe me?

If both are 10 speed then you can - need to transfer with the spacers.

Correct, you either need to redish the wheel, or add some washers to the hub, removing others. If you look at page 34 of this PDF you will see what changes need to be made.

If you call CyClops to have them ship you the washers, count on getting the wrong ones. JTec or a redish would be much easier.

WAIT…I read that wrong (due to my own Campy Shimano issues)

The mechanic is full of shit. You can install a Campy 9/10/11 from any range on any Campy spline hub. I was thinking you were going Shimano to Campy for some reason.

The freehub has not changed AT ALL since 1999. For the entire Campy range.

VINDICATED!!! Thanks.
