Place Names

Until yesterday I was convinced that in highly unlikely event I were to have a child it would be totally awesome for them to have Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, AB on their birth certificate (the fact that National Parks don’t tend to have maternity wards is not relevant to this discussion).

Yesterday, however, I discovered there is a city in Ontario called Moonbeam and I’m torn. I’m pretty sure having Moonbeam, ON on their birth certificate would give my offspring zero chance of living normal lives, but I still think it would be cool.

So, anyone here have anywhere truly odd on their birth certificate?

Not so much an odd location but an odd name. My high school buddy Tad and I were applying to college. We had to produce some official documents and I said, “Where does Tad come from? Theodore or Thadeus?” He said, “No, Tadpole.” Sure enough, his birth cert. read exactly that. He grew up initially in a poor area…

Not on my birth certificate but there is a Humptulips, WA. Makes me giggle whenever I see it. So, potentially add that to your list.

Again, not on my birth certificate: Big Bone Lick - Best.State.Park.Ever

Worked with someone who named her kid H. I wanted to name our son Mr. but my wife would have none of that.

That is a phenomenal name! How times a year do you think the park signs are stolen?

Got a friend with a nephew named ‘M’… yup, that’s it.

Well, that’s like “Em” but with half the letters.

So, anyone here have anywhere truly odd on their birth certificate? Head Smashed In is part of the MD of Willow Creek so that would go on it if that was the case. I used to work in Brocket so I know the area well.
