Thinking of getting a road bike. I am debating between ordering a My Way custom painted Pinarello Dogma 2 or waiting for the McLaren Venge to come out later this year. I know they are different bikes, but which would you pick and why? Other suggestions?
Odd choice. One is all about speed and modern engineering (venge) the other is all about style old world cachet Dogma. This is of course in the context of pro quality bikes.
Styrrell
are you in the mafia or something. I know you must have dropped 10K + on your shiv (sweet by the way) and now you are getting a new road bike?! Awesome…
- are you married?
- what do you do for a living?
- are you happy?
Would not buy the Dogma even at a big discount. The seat stays and fork just look silly gimmicks.
Would consider a Scott Foil too though. And really like the Trek Madone and the Giant TCR
I have always liked the Madone as well, but still kinda waiting to see if they roll out a new revision soon…
I guess I do have a problem, I like to somewhat “collect” bikes. I like the simplicity of bikes and all the technology that goes into them as they progress. I work in the Mechanical Engineering field.

Based on this quote alone, get the Venge! I’m biased though, I LOVE my S-Works Tarmac. It’s the greatest bike I’ve ever ridden. I really like my Tri bike (Felt B2) but I can’t wait for IM training to be done so I can spend more time on my Tarmac. The VENGE looks sick!
Was thinking the same thing - an odd choice combo.
If you race - get the Venge. If not, get the Dogma - hows that for reasoning
Venge gets my vote…Dogma just seems too gimmicky to me. And what about the S5?
Agreed, get the Venge! The Dogma is just a little “showoff”. How bout you consider the new Ridley Noah FB? Looks beautiful to me, plus it’s the first ever bike with brakes actually part of the frame!
Otherwise, get the Venge
Maybe Vanilla Speedvagen if you mostly collect it.
For racing, riding and show I’d most likely go Venge or Foil
Lots of options in that price range…
Dogma is a beautiful and distinct bike designed and painted in Italy, but manufactured in Asia.
Specialized is engineering driven and has lots of customer support, but may lack a certain “passion.”
Option 3… Fly to Milan, visit Cambiago, and have a custom Colnago C59 built… I did this with my EPS a few years ago and it was a GREAT experience. And, the top of the line Colnagos are actually manufactured in Italy (a dying breed).
Enjoy the process.

If you want to be taken seriously? Venge.
If you want to show off your money? Venge.
Dogma is aptly named.
Not really trying to show off, just want a well designed and engineered, aesthetically pleasing bike that, performs as well.
So guessing everyone here thinks Pinarello’s Asymmetrical frame designs are all marketing?
Yup, what can we do to make our frames look different that doesn’t really hurt the actual performance, but looks like it might do something better. Remember GT triple triangle design.
“If you want to be taken seriously? Venge.”
Do you really believe this? IMO, most guys would view riding the McLaren Venge in the same light as riding a disk and an uber-deep front on a weekend group ride. (Hint… not positively)
Not the McLaren Venge but digging the white Astana paint scheme…

Pina Dogma, italian flair- how many of your other riding buddies have one?
Really liking the Astana shiv…though I am partial to the turquoise color scheme.
.
if you can get the venge in the same paint that Cav is on right now, I would go with that. it is the hottest looking bike I ever seen.
anyone who says the pinarello isnt a sweet ride is full of it. ive ridden a dogma, and it was the best ride quality ive ever ridden
