WTC was kind enough to route part of the bike leg right in front of my condo. I posted some video and pics on my Accelerate 3 FB page.
Saw some really high end set ups and some low end set ups, some good positions some poor positions. Some drafting packs (which I think are part of every large race nowadays) some clean riding, and even a Softride TT rocket!

I can’t see the video on my iPad (why do I have a $400 computer that won’t play videos???) but based on the pictures… It looks like I better be ready to draft in December. Really. Fucking. Sad.
There were a few groups, there was a lot of clean riding. There was blatant disregard for the drafting rules by a few.
The reality is any big race you do you have to be ready for drafting. The bigger the race aka more people, the more likely it will be that there will be drafting. I’ve been fortunate to race in 4 or 5 or 6 countries. Drafting happens in every country I’ve raced in, WTC and non WTC races.
Look at it this way. Drafting is included in your entry fee.
A lot of that just looks like too many people on the course going at the same pace. At some point you run out of course for everyone coming out of the swim within a couple minutes of each other to ride cleanly.

that’s how I see it too. Fortunately with courses like Wisconsin, it breaks up quickly but with the full Coz course, I just don’t see it breaking up in the 20-22mph guys that all get out in an hour swim. I’d love it to be clean but I just don’t see it happening. Lucky for me, I don’t see Kona happening this year and I’ll go back to wi for years to come.
I think, and I’m too lazy to actually go pull up the course maps, it’s a bit away from T1. We aren’t staying central to anything, iow it’s a many km’s to the grocery store. (which only charged me a $.79 ATM fee, which was more exciting then finding out there was a tri running in front of my condo)
I was literally engulfed on all sides by a HUGE peleton towards the very end of the bike and sat up, rode the brakes and then noticed an official holding up his iphone and talking to some of the cyclists. at the next penalty tent it was OVERFLOWING with that group. Unfortunately it was the only time i saw anyone in a penalty tent and the woman who came in #2 in my AG sat in a peloton (I assume the entire ride as every time I saw her she was tucked in to the same group). So Yolanda, no te puedo creer. no tienes verguenza? que te disfrutes de la premiacion.
are you here brian? if you get a chance, stop by HC Monterrey on 9th and 5th and get some smoking arrachera.
