i had been using one of the minoura single bottle mounts behind my saddle but it cracked on me the week before lake placid. i used my old x-lab for the race and am now getting around to taking a look at going back to a single bottle in the back (it’s all i really need).
i can’t for the life of me figure out how to zip tie a cage to my saddle rails properly. can some of you post close-up pics of what you’ve done? i tried a number of searches and couldn’t turn up any old threads showing how.
thanks!
Like this?
Or you could do this?
Was rushed to get this done for another forum, yes…they do exist
Bit more machining needed and yeah it looks kack in clear
Does your waterbottle ever fall out of the cage in that position?
Mabye my roads are rougher than yours, but i’ve dropped several when my cage was like that.
Top one yes it does as the cage is poor quality and tends to bend, I however wrap some Velcro round it to keep everything tight.
Decent cage should or would hope, hold it though as well
Here’s two pics of my setup.
I drilled four small holes in the backbone of my Gorilla cage to facilitate running zips through - that way, the zips don’t interfere with the way the bottle fits in the cage.
Been using this setup for several months now - no launches at all, and the cage is rock solid back there.
Transition with a white Cobb? Same setup, love it!
Great idea on drilling out some holes on the ribs of the Gorilla. I had one all zip tied up under the saddle, but didn’t like the way the ties interfered with clean bottle/cage contact. Never thought of your idea, I just might do that myself. For the time being though, I have a Specialized rib cage mounted under my saddle & it works like a charm. It’s a great cage for this type of mount b/c it’s plenty stiff & the ribs where you tie do not get in the way of the bottles.
