Pickle Juice Sport?

Anyone had experience with this stuff? http://www.goldenpicklejuice.com/ Tons of sodium/electrolytes, but is there a downside?

Strange concept.

Why would you want a drink with 15 times the electrolytes of Powerade?

And more important, DOES IT TASTE LIKE PICKLE JUICE?

Yes, it does. My only experience with it was seeing it at the Hotter N’ Hell 100 in Wichita Falls, TX – where the temp last year, literally, reached 110. Tons of cots and IV stations at each aid stop, and the same people who were giving IVs (presumably licensed in some way) were the first to recommend it for cramps etc. Just wanted to see if anyone used it for training/racing…

in the first game of the season, i’m pretty sure it was the 2000 nfl season, the eagles went down to play the cowboys in dallas. it was super hot (apparently, things really heat up at field level). coach reid made sure that the players were all drinking ‘pickle juice’ - not some packaged product, but actual brine used for pickling.

the eagles won (duce staley had like 205 yards rushing) and looked a lot fresher, despite presumably having less acclimation to the heat.

so i’ve been curious about it since then.
oddly, though, in the last 6 years i haven’t been curious enough to actually try it out.

The FAQ says that it is designed with the taste of dill pickles - ugh.

The name itself reminds me of the old SNL skit from the 1970s that spoofed the commercial “With a name like Smuckers, it has to be good!” Among the other names in that skit was “Painful Rectal Itch”

My favourite was the In Living Colour sketch advertising a beverage called Minute Maiden, and featuring Jim Carrey as Martina Navratilova: “I like it too…”
