Phoenix ride

well, good move…looks like weather sucks today in El Paso, but it’s a really nice day in Phoenix with sun, a mid to high 60s, no wind.

Not sure if the course will stay as it is (heard it WILL be a 2 loop course though) but it’s kind of a fun ride…Pancake for about 15mi then a bunch of rolling hills, but nothing long, and nothing steep, so it’s pretty fast course, although quite exposed and the wind could make it bad.

No technical turns either. If it stays like that, it could be a lot of fun.

It’s fun if you can ride like you! It was fun meeting everyone today and getting hammered by Francois 10 miles in. The weather was perfect and despite the two flats for Tracy and Marisol’s lost bottle, it was great. The hills in Fountain Hills and the road out past McDowell Park are/were going to be tough second time around. Nice, stiff headwind on the way back down the Beeline at about noon-1pm. Saw the Multisports.com group in Rio Verde, and maybe PNF and Heather Fuhr. Desert Du tomorrow…

yep. that was definitely Heather. Not sure I saw PNF though.
It was nice meeting everyone as well.
Tomorrow, meeting at 8.30am. Will go for 5h with some race pace work and a short run off the bike.

I’m out for tomorrow. I’m having some new legs installed after trying to hang with “the machine” on the way back. Ever seen a big Dodge cummings diesel tailgating an exotic sports car? That was me today. For the 8 mile stretch between Rio Verde and Fountain Hills my normal power was 325W…this was hanging 6 inches behind Francois’ wheel. My post ride run didn’t go so good :-). But I’m proud to have hung in there.

As Francois mentioned, we collected a second hand quote from Paul Huddle (who was holding a training camp on the course today) that it will be a two loop course of some sort. I didn’t notice Paula either but was told she is in town.

Shawn/anyone, can you give any suggestions for an Orange County ride? I may have to be there next weekend and would like to get in ~90 without too many stop lights. Most likely staying in Costa Mesa or Laguana Hills.

Dan,

I’ll think it about…no/few stoplights will be very difficult. Probably going to have to head down to Camp Pendelton via San Onofre, then back up through Laguna Canyon, through Irvine and then through Santiago Canyon. I’ll PM you a more detailed route after I talk to some folks when I get back Monday. Cheers.

at the front, behind, on the side, what’s the difference…I am pretty small…not sure your power would have been different at the front
.

Your bigger in person than you get credit for here (although it’s all legs, frog legs I guess:-).

I guess it’s all relative…compare to mojozenmaster I am some tiny guy!

you should have come today…the wind was great…in your face all the time pretty much

oh…and Marisol ditched us today!
man these girls from Quebec!

Nah, I enjoyed a 16 mile run with too little water in the afternoon heat. Amazing what loosing 5lbs will do to you the last couple miles. 'course some of it was blood, I had a huge bloody-nipple thing going on and didn’t realize it until I got the “oh my god” from my wife.

My bike is currently in a state of partial assembly. Since comparing power numbers with you, I have put on a new stem to lower my bars, cut the fronts off my bull-horns and brake levers, and re-routed my cables. Next I’m gonna shave my arms, legs, and chest (do I have to shave my armpits too?) Gotta be worth 30W I figure :-).

You have until March 19 to gain 50lbs so you and I can race the clydesdale div. at Ralphs;-0

no no no… I didn’t ditch anybody! I met at 8:15 for a 2 hours recovery… initially, you guys were meeting at 8:00… I had to fly back, couldn’t wait too long! Plus I was worthless… beat, tired, worn out, av 15.9 mph if that tells you enough! How was your ride?

the ride was fun! did a bit of IM pace work, was a bit dangerous around the fair in Fountain hills, but it was a fun ride for everyone I think.
