Phoenix, Az. folks, need running ideas for soft surface paths

Where to run on soft surface in the Phoenix area? Preferably relatively flat as I’m in injury recovery. Scottsdale and East valley or Tempe areas most preferable. Thoughts?

Along the Arizona Canal in south Scottsdale? Is flat graded dirt soft enough?

Yes, perfect. I had that one pencilled in thanks.

Loads of packed trails in the Preserve up in Troon.

Carl, you like riding from there too? Both on and off road?

Lots of soft trails in Mcdowelll trail system just outside fountain hills.

Granite, lariat and pemberton are real soft trails and fairly flat.

Love it. The road riding is pretty good and varied from flats to climbing routes. Trails and gravel roads are endless, and I spend a lot of time rolling around the Preserve and down into McDowell on CX bike. Tons of fun. I’ve been on my road bike only 1-2 days per week and on TT or CX the rest.

I live close to Camelback golf course and often run there in the morning before golf starts. It doesn’t get any softer than running on fairways with winter grass. Unlike some golf courses nobody seems to mind runners and walkers.
