Phelps just proves its about the engine and the desire.

maybe it was the media build up, but I was super-excited for this race and I wasn’t disappointed…awesome seeing phelps win without going to the arena suit and seeing both phelps and cavic break 50s…can’t wait till everyone is forced to wear “jammers” though…
definitely, guys in jammers and girls in normal suits.
we gotta bring back the sex appeal to swimming.
That was amazing, a perfect race.

What? If we dont get to wear tops neither do the womens!
That was one hell of an FU to Cavic.
At least after the fact, they were civil enough to shake.
See how good a lil smack talk and drama is for sport?
im with you, i love equality.
What’s really cool is right after the turn you can see Phelps staring over at Cavic while dolphining, checking where he’s at.
link video?
I saw it too and thought it was pretty cool, although its somewhat easier to see on tv…
Hooray Phelps! Loved! him snapping the logo portion of the suit after the finish. (Speedo will have to make sure that bonus check hits the mail soon.) Will be even better when there is no chance to credit the suits. By the way, insiders, a question: why jammers instead of briefs? Isn’t there performance benefit to the jammers?
its all about the weed man
lol

Too bad that Phelps and Cavic aren’t necessarily going to meet long course in 2010. Only world championships next year is short course worlds in Dubai in December, and the big meet for USA swimming is Pan Pacs.
I’d love to see the Mare Nostrum series next year throw a bunch of cash at the two swimmers and get them both there- three European long course meets over about a week, finish the series in Monaco and have the prince pass out a big award to the guy who comes away with the best results.
Cavic is a native of the OC, swam for Cal. Why can’t he play at the Pan Pacs? I don’t know why he opted for serbia, but is he precluded from swimming for USA? I just don’t know. On that topic, why did he opt for serbia, couldn’t make the USA team? If anyone knows, I would like to hear.
In swimming, there’s effectively a one year ‘penalty box’ if you have dual citizenship, previously represented Country A, and now want to represent Country B.
As for why Serbia, he had a guaranteed trip to the Olympics as a teenager at time when he was a second and a half back of either Phelps or Ian Crocker. And up until 2008 he was still decidedly behind those two.
