Peterborough Half Course

Just curious if anyone has some insight into the Peterborough half course.

Particularly the bike course… I hear it is “hilly” and “rolly”… is it hilly like Muskoka is hilly? or just a little bit hilly?

I’ve done lots of research on this… here’s some data from the results to whet your appetite.

Imagine the same amount of hills as Muskoka spread out over 90K on less steep grades that can be longer. That is what it is. You are never on flat and always in the open…lots of sun and wind. You need to hold back till you reach 60K…that’s when the bike race starts. Up till then, it is a huge long warmup during which most athletes blow their load

I believe my training partners last year who all have raced it described it as HHH (Hot-Hilly-Hard). Also the swim was mass start meaning it can get pretty thrashy at the start, so seed yourself smartly and be patient.

I concur HHH… except I didn’t think the hills on the bike was that hard, Muskoka bike course is by far harder in my opinion. The run is wide open with no shade and talk about HOT! wear a hat.

hills not as steep as Muskoka on the bike, you can carry a lot of momentum. The run course has changed check the website
