Given that RL_SD is from San Diego, I’m guessing Jim Vance. Jim is also from San Diego, is going to Kona (IMFL last year), and is (was?) coached by Peter, and is I think a legitimate top-20 contender (at least).
You’re a fucking genius ![]()
.
I wasn’t, but then I spent this week in New Mexico, and I suddenly was a whole lot smarter!
Well, it doesn’t work for everyone!
“but his run could have been closer to 36 minutes on the day. I would think that he would be capable of that for sure.”
The guy won the race – it didn’t NEED to be faster. Could be that he just cruised the run since the race was already in the bag.
Peters swim was good, his bike as very fast for this course but his run could have been closer to 36 minutes on the day.\
You missed my point… He won the race, that is what pros do…They don’t race for time, no money in that. Once he had the win, no pressure to keep up a killer pace. Pros have to measure their efforts according to what is at stake. Once he is in the lead, there is nothing more at stake, except his health, a good reason to shut it down… A much different mentality that AG’ers… He did the right thing, and as I said, only he knows if he could have gone 34, 36, or whatever. He doesn’t race to please us with his run splits…
very true! if peter decided to come back, it dosnt matter what any slowtwitcher think of it… he will be back to be at the top of the game… would be great for the sport…
I heard the jonnyo got into Peter’s head, making him not want to show up for IMC. He’ll be doing Hawaii as a backup race, hoping that j won’t recover in time after blowing his load to **BEAT GORDO! **
He doesn’t race to please us with his run splits…
Tough crowd here on ST , Mark.
Strange more than a few go nuts when the big bike studs, rip it up on the bike( and some times don’t even finish, I might add) and here’s one of the best runners in the sport, who’s winnning a race( with a fast bike split), but still not running fast enough!! Strange.
I just sent Pete and email. We’ll see if:
- I still have his correct email address
- He admits to getting ready for Kona
- He politely tells me to buzz off

Of course, I also told him people here on ST are curious (and gave him the link), so maybe he’ll just come on and post and let us know
(or maybe he won’t)
Well, I must have the correct email address, but I just received a form email saying his email address is not accepting emails. He must have some spam filters on. Crap. I don’t remember badgering him TOO badly in the past ![]()
what if you go through his coaching website? Eventually he might get the e-mail.
Ryan didn’t exactly do a good job of hiding my identity, so no point in denying it. I was coached by Peter, and currently am on downtime from CDA. I will be touching base with him soon, and deciding where to go from here.
Peter has told me there is a chance he may do Kona, but he needed to do some tests, in order to see if it was worth it. If he indeed goes after Kona, he doesn’t want any distractions from that goal, and isn’t sure coaching me would be the best idea. I respect and understand that. He is willing to guide and advise me, but probably not coach me as we have had things in the past.
In the end, if Peter feels he is ready and can compete, I am sure he will race in Kona. But for now, no one knows but Peter.
That is not a spam filter, that is a TRO

Yeah, oops…
You might be surprised at the number of PMs I got telling me to suggest to you to contact Paulo…
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
OTOH, hmmmmmm…
Jim is a cool guy, I got to meet him at CDA. He’s also a coffee drinker, which for me is HUGE!
As for the people that PM’ed you… cerveloguy! Learn! House! GregX! PeterC! Please stop doing that!!!
I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I appreciate what you are “trying” to get across , there are more diplomatic ways of doing this such as a PM or re-wording your post.
“They”… infers all on the forum , when in reality, it is probably the 20% that throw around 80% of the crap.

Monty,
I agree with you but really, you know that he rocked the bike because he was probably on his new Specialized Transition and I thought for sure that he would have to run faster since he was most likely in his new Newton’s. Now if this is all true then I am going to go out and buy a new Transition when they are available since it has to be a fast bike as her crushed everyone but there is no way that I wil buy Newton’s now since Peter could not run a 36 min at a little race. Maybe that was as fast as he could go in the Newton’s?
