Have been suffering from knee pain for some time in both knees. Mainly left knee every day, right knee occasionally. Had an MRI and bloods done, both came back clear.
I looked at the MRI myself today and compared the knees against each other. I see some anomaly on what looks to be the lower part of the left knee cap.
The right side does not have have that at all.
@titemple652 It is a dull pain in the knee caps. It varies in intensity. Its more sore today(bordering on sharp) after doing a strength workout last night and is quiet sore to bend my left knee.
I’ve had the pain on and off now for about a year. Over the last 6 months its been pretty constant in the left knee, somedays I don’t feel bad in the right knee.
You should include your medical history and especially a lot of info about your injury. How it occurred, what aggravates it, how you think you could be better, what kind of pain it is (stabbing, aching, heat, cold, etc), if it gets better or worse with movement, how long you’ve had it, etc. It is very important information for trying to treat injuries.
However I’m just a PT Stud and dont know squat about how to read MRI. Maybe an actual MD will tell you something obvious from that picture. Not all pain is noticeable on MRI though, and not all you find on an MRI is painful even though its abnormal.
I’m pretty sure that somebody like your doctor could tell you what it is… you know… the one who would help you treat it after they told you what it was?

My doctor never commented on this when I spoke to him a few months ago, my next appointment is not for a few weeks so I’m curious to find out from somebody who maybe have the expertise to read an MRI and would be able to identify what that is. There is no need to get all salty about it lifejustice, you seem angry about something, maybe go have a nap and you’ll feel better.
Lets not be bashful. It is already difficult enough for people who have injuries like this and need to alter their lifestyles. Also, there are quite a few MDs, Radiologists and PT within the Slowtwitch community that often offer advice and their two sense which I personally have found to be quite helpful. Please keep the rude comments to yourselves.

I kind of see where he’s coming from. I find it very odd the OP went to the doc to get an MRI on their knee, but their doc never commented on it? Seems strange is all.
That is a term for general knee cap pain, and it is correct I guess because I do have knee cap pain.
What I’m interested to find out is what is that thing I’ve circled in the image?
The term for general knee cap pain is patellofemoral syndrome. In this situation the term chondrmalacia is correct, which means that there is damage to the cartilage. The part you have circled is a piece of cartilage I 'm afraid…
