I’ve been using trainerroad for a couple years now so I think it’s great. It’s polished and it’s nice getting the updated workouts. But what do others think about Perf Pro? I haven’t tried it yet but it looks like they have some good workout libraries. I like the one time payment as well. How about Golden Cheetah? The price is right. But the downloaded workouts seem to be just a lot of random workouts people have thrown out there. I could create my own I guess. In season, I’ll stick with trainerroad since I don’t much feel like spending time to fiddle with something else but wondering what others think. I’m leaning towards Perf Pro since it seems powerful and has lots of workouts. Trainerroad still seems to have the edge there since their programs get updated all the time.
PerfPro user almost since the beginning. Used for a time TR but went back to PP. Reason more possibilities + PP Analyzer. PP now has + 1000 workouts to choose from with drill down you can select VO2max etc. The only thing missing are the structured trainingplans like in TR. Hope this comes in PP. Big plus one time payment.
I have used both Perfpro and TR. TR was great - the clean interface and PLANS were very helpful.
Perfpro works perfectly fine, but I’m just not as enthused about the built-in interface and workouts. I honestly rarely use it, whereas when I’m active with TR, I use it a LOT.
I’ll admit that lately I haven’t been trying to crush myself on the bike, so I’ve been happily using the Wahoo fitness app on my phone and just typing in the power I want to bike at. At least for now, I’m enjoying the easier, lower pressure workouts (no need to hit those power targets) and I still have headroom to hammer the outdoor rides I’m doing now.
If I do go back to structure training though, it’ll likely be with TR again.

yeah. the one time payment is nice. and it’s a factor in my decision.

+1 for Perfpro. Tried everything, was for a few years with TR, will not stray from PP now unless something major changes.
yeah. TR is nice and the plans are great. It can’t be much simpler than pick a plan and follow it. End of year I’ll have to try PerfPro for a the couple week trial and see what I think. I’ve always used TR.
Also Drew from PP is amazing adding features, improving the sw or helping out.
On the otherhand nothing wins from the clean set up with TR. Due to the incredible many possibilities in PP this takes some more time.
Same here. PP is the go to one for me despite not having a Mac version. Most important aspect for me is the ease of using it for multiple people with multiple devices so that each can track their own metrics.
di use trainer road but always went back to perfpro - easy intuitive and always works
.
Does anyone have any screenshots of what PerfPro Studio looks like when I’m executing a workout? I had a quick look on the PerfPro website, but it just seems to show lots of group workouts with stats from multiple riders. How does it look when I’m conducting a solo session? And how customisable is this interface, can I change the stats that are on display?
How about the Training mode on Golden Cheetah?
I’ve been using TrainerRoad for 18 months or so and love the simplicity of it, but would consider switching over to something that’s not subscription-based.

The top boxes are editable with various statistics. Behind the Computrainer box 2 other statistics are shown for example W/kg. The middle one in blue showing tha actual performance can also show various statistics like HR, cadance, speed, wattage.
This was a workout 6x3min@105% FTP with rest 3min@55%.
I have both TrainerRoad and Perfpro since 2014. For the past two years I almost always go with Perfpro with custom workout sessions created. I do like how easy it is to create new workouts in PP. There are a lot more settings in PP, but once you work your way through and get everything setup for your personal and gear settings it is a fairly nice program that also gives some additional post training analysis views. Both programs seem to pair quickly to the sensors. Both have similarities like power match or power meter control, but Perfpro can at times take a little more effort to find where those setting are. Both developers seem to provide consistent application updates. Both developers are good at responding to users and are helpful.
It is a personal preference thing, but I naturally gravitate to PP over TR.
