Announcing the 1st Annual Peloton TT Racing Series. This 3-event series is scheduled to start Saturday February 14th and run through Saturday March 7th. There will be 3 different TT races, each with an individual winner. Plus, there will be an overall winner crowned from the combination of all 3 race times. The individual winner for each race will be awarded a monetary purse of 20% of the proceeds from the entry fees. The more entrants, the more money to be won! Plus there will be monetary awards given to each age group winners (ages 0-40 & ages 41 +) in the amount of 12.5% of total proceeds from entry fees. The overall winner from each race will be excluded in the age group awards. Finally the overall winner of the combined racing series will be awarded 5% of the total proceeds from all three races. This is a chance for someone to win 4 cash prizes for their individual hard work!! You must compete in all three event races to be eligible for the overall Series Event Champion. Each individual race will be different in length and level of difficulty. There will be one flat course, one rolling course and one hilly course. Races will be no longer than 30 miles and no less than 10 miles. We want to create a series that every level of rider, whether you’re a flat course, “need for speed” cyclist or a climbing specialist to show off your fitness. When it’s all over we’ll see who’s got what it takes to survive the “Peloton Tour” and win the 3 race event. Drafting will NOT be allowed in this event. From Saturday February 14th through Saturday March 7th you can complete any of these individual races on any day that you choose during business hours. Although we recommend that you do one race per week for best performance you could choose to do all 3 races in one week. You simply have to complete the events on or before March 7th. Each event race is $20.00. You may choose to purchase all** 3 races in the Series for $55.00**. Members of Peloton Cycling Center pay $15.00 per race or $40.00 for all three races. You can ride each course up to 3 times and your best result will be counted. Credit Cards are accepted. Your time must be pre-scheduled. No drop ins allowed for the event races. Schedule early to reserve your favorite time. You may wish to schedule your rides with a group. We are set up to have up to 6 riders together on the same course, and we can have 2 groups of 6 riders spinning at the same time. What a great way to get your hard effort workout in for the week and compete against local riders to see who can hammer the hardest. This event will be opened to riders from Allen County and the surrounding areas. ********************************************* The 3 race TT Series will be followed by a Team TT event. One race, 2 weeks, one winning team! Groups of 3-6 riders will be accepted. The average time for the top 3 riders will count. Each team may choose to ride the course up to 2 times. The best of the two rides will be taken. This will be a flat course. No more than 26 miles and no less than 15 miles. You’ll find out the distance when you arrive, but everyone will ride the same course. The Team TT event will take place from Saturday March 14h - Saturday March 28th. The cost of the team event will be** $80/team**. The winning team will be awarded a monetary purse of 50% of the total proceeds from the entrants fees and the glory of being the “Best Team TT” in the area! Bring your best 3 riders and only split your winnings 3 ways or bring 6 riders and lower the cost of the race and have more riders pulling each other. Drafting WILL be allowed! No drop ins will be allowed for event rides. Rides must be scheduled. Schedule early to reserve your favorite time. ******************************************* Finally, Saturday April 4th - Saturday April 18th will start a grueling “King of the Mountain” Event that is sure to test even the strongest of climbers. This event will have 1 winner. The course will be approximately 5-10 miles and will be nothing shy of nearly the most torturous 45-90 minutes that you’ve ever spent on a bike. If you like to climb, you’ll want to enter this event. Who’s the King of the Peloton Mountain? Come climb our Alpe d’Huez and claim your title! Test your cycling fitness this Spring with this event. Not recommended if you are only starting your training for the season around this time. This WILL be a VERY challenging ride. King of the Mountain event cost is $20 per attempt. Peloton Members pay $15 per attempt. Winner will awarded a cash purse equal to 50% of the total proceeds from the entrant’s fees. No drafting will be allowed. Haha. No drop ins will be allowed for this event. All rides must be scheduled through the Peloton Cycling Center. Schedule early to reserve your favorite time. Start scheduling NOW! They need to just write Cervelo3 a big check and save themselves a lot of logistics.

I didn’t realize this was an indoor event until I did a triple-take on it. Might want to be explicit on that.

What system are you using? Computrainer?

Yeah… game over once he shows up… I think he only beat me by 18 minutes the last 10 mile TT I raced in. HAHA

This is an INDOOR event. Thanks for pointing this out. We are using Computrainers for the event.

Our center has 12 computrainers. 2 x 6 rider systems so we can put up to 6 riders on the same course. We will use the multirider system courses for each event to maintain continuity of the course for each rider. This will also help when it comes time for the TEAM TT Event.

Thanks for asking.

No drafting, in an indoor event. How does that work?

Our Computrainer systems have software that simulates drafting during a group ride. During the individual TT races we will turn that function off so that we will have consistent equal performance conditions for everyone. However, during the team time trial event we will allow drafting so that when you are riding with your team you will actually be able to draft off eachother to produce your best team performance possible. We want to make this as real as possible.

Unfortunately we have decided not to open it up for the online computrainer population due to logistics. This could be something to think about for next year though. Thanks for asking.

I am sure Francis can chime in, but on a computrainer, isn’t it all about watts/kg? no benefit to being aero. I know I would fair a lot worse when being slippery didn’t count.

Exactly. Guys with big engines win computrainer races. Form does not matter.

You are correct. Indoor Computrainer races puts everyone on ground zero. It’s not about how aero or slippery you are or whether you ride better in the cool air or wind or heat…it’s about how much power you can bring and hold for the length of the course. It’s a truer measure of actual fitness, endurance and power output/performance. (correct me if i’m wrong)

What a second, if it is only about power, then having a P3 or P4 is not a reqiurement, I like that… but then again we know what Cervelo3 rides

more like a measure of physical size than fitness. If you are 275 and can put out 400 watts you win over the 150lb 275 watt person, especially when there is no official weigh in.

Good point. Being able to rest his chin on the front brake won’t help much on the Computrainer.

Bingo ! The guys who have the biggest watts/kg usually do best. In fact, I know a certain Fort Wayne dentist that should do quite well.

There WILL be an official weighin. When each person comes to ride, their weight will be taken and entered into the program. Then they will be allowed to warm up for at least 5 min before calibration to the computrainer. This assures accurate readings and a level playing field. If you are capable of putting out 300 watts on the computrainer and sustain that for the duration of the ride it is because of your level of fitness and endurance. If anyone has an advantage it is because of their training and fitness, not because of how tall they are or their weight.

somehow that reminded me that I used to ride my road bike with the bottom of my bars lower than the top of 700c wheels. I decided after a while of watching others handling skills that that might not be such a good idea. Nothing ever happened, now they are about 1cm higher. I’d like 'em a little lower but that require a neg rise stem on the litespeed.
