Pearl Izumi P.R.O vs Tyr Carbon

IM Texas is around the corner and my current gear isn’t going to cut it. Trying to decide between Pearl Izumi P.R.O and Tyr Carbon and I haven’t tried either brand previously. Anyone familiar with fit, comfort and performance? Leaning towards the Pearl Izumi but not sure about a top without a zipper in the front, any help would be great.

If you decide on the TYR, I have a carbon that I’ve never worn (size L).

Do you have a top and bottom?

What Color?

How come Tyr didnt work for you?

It’s actually the trisuit (one piece). I like the padding in the short, but the top didn’t fit the way I like. Arm holes are bigger than I like. Otherwise, I think the fabric and the construct are first rate. Would be very fast in the water and great for the bike/run. Oh, and it’s black.

I used the PRO stuff last year for IMC and liked it so much I got the new kit. I was worried about the zipper thing, but the stuff is really cool. On the run (94*) I thought I could get cooler by lifting the shirt, and low and behold, I was actually warmer. So I just kept it down for the rest of the day and trusted that the material was doing it’s job. That was the black too…not sure if you are thinking about the white. Shorts are outstandingly comfortable IMO.

Haven’t tried the TYR Carbon… But the pearl Izumi PRO shorts are the most comfortable tri shorts I have ever worn. Getting ready to buy another pair for this season

Are you considering any other options?

I just saw the white 2 pc from PI and it looks AWESOME!!

I’ve been using Skinfit for the past 6 months, but I’m really considering the PI stuff.

How was the fit for the top, just worried about it being too tight
.

I’m 5’9 155 or so, wore M top and S bottom. I would say that the top is comfortably tight. There is some give, but it is made to be aero and tight, and is tight without being constricting. Hopefully that makes sense and helps.
