I saw this suit on the front page, has anyone got a chance to review one yet? I love PI clothes and would like to try one but would like some feedback before dropping $200.

Thanks
Bump since I see that you can buy them now!
I suppose it’s funny that I find out that the suit is available throughout Slowtwitch before our internal emails.
Anyway, the P.R.O Trisuit actually has some interesting features/fabrics this year. It’s chlorine resistant and has UV protection. We have some of the ladies’ PRO shorts and the side panels feel similar to a swim cap. The panels are stretchy and appear to be waterproof.
I should be getting one within a few days and will post a review once I have it in hand.

Thats my main concern, the pictures I have seen make it look like a shiny rubber material, interesting to say the least. How can that breathe?
The silver panels don’t look breathable, but consider, it’s a small bit of surface area when compared to the rest of the suit, which seems as though it breathes nicely.
I’ve got one that I’ll be testing at 70.3 New Orleans. And yes, it’s quite rubbery like a swim cap, and is quite flexible. Plus it looks bad ass. Can’t wait to use it.

Since we have about 6 other threads going on now with marketing-based rants, I can’t resist… UV shielding, OK, but chlorine-resistant? Who the hell trains in those? Only rarely have I ever seen a pool Tri that was longer than a sprint, so even if I did 6 of them a year and I sucked at swimming (i.e., twice as slow), that’s about a grand total of 1 hour of chlorine exposure. I doubt my tri shorts have spent more than 45 min in a pool in 4 years combined. Or do they mean to boast of surviving accidental bleach spills?
Mini-rant over.
From what I’ve seen racing in Northern CA, a number of the collegiate races have used pools for their tris. Granted, these are mostly sprints but it’s still time in chlorine.
Also, the chlorine resistance helps preserve the wicking properties of the material rather than necessarily protecting the garment from damage. That’s why you’re supposed to take special care, laundry-wise, with your clothes. Detergents and fabric softeners will often block the pores of a piece of fabric preventing it from wicking away moisture. I’m assuming that the chlorine resistance might serve a similar function.

I would have to agree that is a solution to problem that doesn’t exist.
+1
.
Maybe a high fiber diet would help you feel better?
??? sorry I don’t get it ???
Do you ever get a chance to try the Pearl Izumi P.R.O tri suit?
Just curious if anyone has used this suit yet? This is an interesting thread without a single actual review in it.
Thanks!!

Yes, I have used the suit, and the Pearl Izumi PRO Shorts that are just like the suit. Tri suits are a personal thing, so I won’t say my experience was the same as yours would be.
Personally, I did not like anything about the suit. First off, its shiny–very shiny. It really sticks out in a crowd. Some may like that, not my thing though. Second, the chamois was not my favorite. There was one particular seam in it that rubbed me raw all three times I raced in it. After the third time, it got so painful that I quit using it. Again, this may or may not be an issue for you. Last, it’s very transparent if you get anything on it. I use a little chamois cream in my bottoms when I race. I use SkinSake Athletic Ointment, which is a tan color pretty close to skin color. It showed right through the suit and left a hideous stain all around my junk.
So, not my favorite, but this is just my two cents.
I have the newer black and red version. The newer version does not have a zipper and when in the aero position - air flows easily through the neck cut-out creating a puffer-fish effect. Worst $200+ I’ve ever spent on the sport. It was so darn expensive that I’m gonna use it again this year just so I can justify the cost.
Does that mean it is good enough to use for another year? My sarcasm detector is fluctuating reading this review…lol
