Partial tear of ligamentum teres - Anyone else had this?

Has anyone else here been diagnosed with a partial tear of their ligamentum teres?

ie the ligament at the top of the femur in the hip joint.

I’ve been diagnosed with this, and have been given a 1 month’s rest with nothing but swimming with a pull buoy. I understand the injury is pretty rare so was just wondering what others’ experiences with it might be like?

I haven’t heard of this, what do you think caused it (overtraining, bad form while running/biking) and future ways to avoid it?

How was it diagnosed? I have been dealing with maybe similar

I first noticed pain getting into my car and when I slipped on a wet patch on a carpark and had to quickly regain my balance. My left adducter (the leg where my injury is), got extremely tight. I’ve always had issues with my left leg, had ITB issues for around a year and have had issues with my knee. My hip also seems have sat different on my left leg when I stretch lying on my back and bringing my knee to my chest.

My left leg has also often “given up” far before my right leg in any races over olympic distance and is the main reason for any walking I’ve had to do in an ironman.

Sports med doctor thinks it was likely just bad luck and has prescribed rest to see if that resolves it, as I don’t really want surgery if I can avoid it.

Had xrays and ultrasound first but they showed nothing. I then had a MRI arthrogram (basically a MRI where they inject a contrast dye into the area to be examined) and that showed the partial tear.

It looks like it’s been a long time since the original post, but I was just diagnosed with the same: LT partial tear with complex labral tear. In addition I got tendinitis of hamstring and glutes.

Was prescribed 3 months PT and check in again after. I’m not co dude r that’s going to help since I already included most of the PT exercises on my regular Crosstraining routines.

Fulla, do you have any update? Anybody else deal with this?
