Pandora One upgrade

Who has upgraded from the standard Pandora to the Pandora One? Has it been worth it? It’s only 3.99 per month or $36 per year. Long runs on the treadmill are hard enough. It’s snowing outside right now.

I did it, we listen to music a lot. You get zero ads plus higher stream quality, you can notice the audio difference with any decent speakers or most any headphones. And you can make a channel for nearly everything: a christmas channel; a stand up comedy channel; my young son really likes the cowboy music channel I made for him. It’s worth it for us, but then we save *a lot *of $ because we don’t have cable tv. In the end, it kinda depends what you like and what you value.

How’s the song variety? Normal pandora seems to keep playing the same songs over and over again and gets pretty old.

it is well worth it and it allows you to skip stuff. Also at a party it just plays and the regular one will stop.

The variety is pretty good if you set up maybe 10+ channels based on 10+ most liked artists and/or songs. And then, if you run it in shuffle mode, it jumps from channel to channel. I’d say the variety is pretty good if every so often you vary the channels.

Made the switch a couple of years ago, great decision.

I have it and wouldn’t go back. I always hate it on normal Pandora when a commercial pops up in the middle of an interval. Its also nice in that it doesn’t pause after an hour to ask if you are still listening.

I have it and like it.

If I had to complain, sometimes a song I like only gets played once a month and some songs get played 2-3 times a day

Spotify just came out with a new update that allows you to pick any songs and add them to a playlist, for free. This used to be $10/month but they just changed it. So far it is awesome. The only thing you can’t do is play songs “on-demand,” you have to add them to a playlist first.

Yup, pretty worth it. What I don’t like about Pandora is that it limits how much you do to it per session ie. thumbs down & skipping, which teaches it what you like.

Yes, definitely nice, but I did it many years ago when Pandora was in their infancy and it was $1.99 US for a YEAR! They have honored and left it at that for me as well. Nice.

You might look at Rhapsody. I am considering it. From what I understand, Rhapsody allows you to actually pick albums and songs and everything is on it

I did it several years ago, but won’t be renewing this year. It takes a lot of time, attention, and futzing with channels to get it to play a variety of music: find it tends to get stuck on the same 40-50 songs per channel, so I might as well just be shuffling through my own collection.

Now that KUNC (public radio from Univ. of N Colorado) has a 24x7 music channel, I give them money instead and get a wonderful curated stream of music with lots of new stuff.

Also worth trying is Boulder community radio KGNU which also has a 24x7 music stream,

very eclectic, as you’d expect from Boulder, a small community entirely surrounded by reality…

My brothers bought me Pandora One for Christmas last year. It has been nice, but I’ve found myself listening to XM radio in my car a good bit more. For workouts, if you’re planning on subscribing to a service, the better buy in my mind is the ITU TV subscription. Easily the best ~$25 I’ve spent. You get coverage dating back to 2009 (if not earlier), live streaming video of the ITU WTS and World Cup events as they happen, and race replays/magazine shows too.

This has gotten me through so many treadmill workouts, all for one low flat rate.
